Epilator, waxing or shaving

Just curious what everyone else does. I REALLY do not want any unwanted hair showing on the big day, lol. I have blonde hair, except under the arms and defnitely do not want any stubby's kicking around :)

I have recently started using the epilator, but no way has it been lasting close to the "up to 4 weeks", maybe 2 weeks and I see growth. I have a wedding the week before, and I'm hoping that I don't have any stubby's for my wedding.

What does everyone else do?

Re: Epilator, waxing or shaving

  • i did 8 sessions of laser hair removal in all unwanted places
  • What on earth is an epilator? I just shave. I'm so scared/private/embarrassed to having waxing done.
  • I started waxing last month. I go again Friday.

  • Epilator is an electrical appliance consisting of a metal spiral head that rotates at high speed, plucking unwanted hair - basically electrical tweezers

Are you happy with the results?  How long did it last?

I did this years ago and have never regretted it.

Well it lasts longer everytime you do it..... the first time lasted about 10 days. This time it should last longer. By the time of the wedding, my wax should last at least a month. We will see! It wasnt that painful- totally worth it in my opinion!

Awesome!  Thanks!  It'd be so nice to not have to worry about shaving for the wedding and honeymoon!
  • I get Brazlian sugaring done every 6 weeks and recently also tried the sugaring on my armpits.  The armpits lasted about 2-3 weeks before the "stubbly" hairs started to come back.  The tiny blonde "baby" hairs came back a little quicker.

I am not getting my legs waxed because my wax lady said there's a good chance that I will develop scars from doing it.  She can't use sugar on my legs.
  • I wax my eyebrows and bikini, shave everywhere else.
  • I use shaving for some things and chemical removing for others.
I might as well be a monkey for how quickly my hair grows.... and how dark it is. For my legs and armpits I like to use a shaving cream and a good razor (like what men use for their faces), and I really love the results. I have a special electrical shaver that does a good job taking care of the intimate areas. and unfortunatelly I have to chemically remove my upper lip fluff. I hate it but there's nothing I can do about it.
I personally could never get away with not shaving every 2 days. So I'm planning on having that a part of my the-day-of prep.

  • I just got waxed for the first time yesterday.  I plan to do it at least once more before the wedding.

I just bought an epilator off of amazon. I want it for my bikini area. I am too cheap to pay to have it waxed. I may try it on my armpits and legs too, depending on how I like it.

I like how you don't have to grow it out like waxing, it only needs to be 1 mm long.

  • Ok, I'm struggling with this too.  I am currently in the process of getting laser hair removal on my underarms, but only because I won a package at a bridal show.

mbishop - The cost depends on where you live.  My friends closer to NYC get it WAYYY cheaper because there's a Groupon for it every day, whereas up here its like 10x more at full retail.  I'd wait for a Groupon or some other promotion.  It is meant to last permanently, most reputable places will give you free treatments if you see it come back within the first 2-5 years.

I want to get a brazilian wax but I'm really struggling with growing it out!  I don't think I've had anything there since I was like 14 and it just grosses me out so much!!  The people at my place told me to grow it out for 2 weeks.  If it doesn't last a long time though I think I'll just keep shaving.  Yes I get razor burn but it might be worth it to not have to take 2 weeks of feeling gross and barely having sex, plus its less expensive to shave!

I'd like to find a place that would do a brazilian for laser hair removal, but I don't think anywhere does :(  Just the bikini line....

  • i'd be wary of the epilator.  I used to use it on my legs and it gave me really really bad ingrowns.  I have never had that happen before!! i stick to waxing and shaving.  I'd love to get laser, but with my tan skin, I can only use certain lasers, so I'm waiting for a groupon!!
