Second thoughts about my dress

About a month after I got engaged, I went with my MOH dress shopping - my intention was just to get an idea of what styles looked good on me.  I ended up getting this dress:

However, for whatever reason, I keep thinking about trying on this other dress (which I haven't tried on yet, so it might look like total crap).

The first dress is really nice, but I don't know if it's "bridal" enough.  I already spent $450 on it, our wedding is only going to be 3 hours (intimate with 15 people and heavy hors d'oeuvres and a dessert.  I am having a hard time justifying spending anymore....but by the same token, I only get married once and if I am not 100% sure.  Help!

  • I think the only advice I have is that you should wear whatever makes you happiest and what you feel best in. (I also think someone else on this board has the Vera Wang dress, but I can't be sure. But you could ask them about fit!)

  • I would go try the other one on and if you love it more order it and sell the other
  • I agree with the previous post that you should go and try the other dress on. I think unless you try the other one on you are always gonna think what if. You need to try your dress on, then go try the other one and see how you feel in them both. Without trying on the dress thats tempting you, you will never be able to feel reassured in your first choice.

I agree with all of this.

  • I'm going to disagree. There will always be "one more dress." There will be a whole new set of styles coming out before June, even. If you let yourself go down that path, you'll always be thinking about what else is out there.

As for the first dress, it's lovely! And of course it's "bridal" enough. You're a bride. You'll be wearing it. That makes it bridal!
  • I think your dress is very bridal and beautiful! Also, even though I don't know a lot of details about your wedding, from what you say, it sounds like you'd be very out of place at your wedding in the second dress.

  • You should do what is going to make you happy for that day. I can tell you I tried on the second dress ( I am a size six) it didn't do anything for me. I will say that the first dress, seems to fit the setting you described for your wedding. ( initimate).

However, that is your wedding you should not have any second thoughts about your dress on that day.

  • You should go with what ever one you are the most comfertable in and makes you the most happy.

  • I am in the same process right now! I called DB the other day and they said I can exchange my dress because I had no alterations done to it! So if you don't love your dress, exchange it! I am not going to settle and try to make mine work. ;)

I tried on the first dress which you bought and thought it was beautiful.  The other one you like looks very nice as well, but is very different.  I think it depends on what sort of vibe you want to go with for your wedding since those gowns are very different.  You should be happy with what you're wearing on your wedding day.

I too didnt like my dress that I bought and I returned it to DB.  I exchanged for a higher priced dress and couldnt be happier.  I couldnt justify spending that much on a dress either, but Im so glad I did.  I want to look back and be happy that I spent the extra for what made me truely happy, not regret the fact that I could have but just didnt.  Good Luck to you!
  • I think the dress you bought is quite beautiful and is also less than half the price of the other!  Agree with Kaitlyn142, there will always be other dresses. But really, the one you bought is stunning. As others have said, if you haven't done alterations, you may be able to exchange the dress, so if it's really haunting you, go and try it on--maybe that will just get it out of your system, but there is a reason you picked the original one you did...not just having to do with price. You need to get back in touch with that.
  • Thank you everyone so much for all of your advice!  I think part of my wavering was due to the fact that there is so much time between now and the wedding, so I can second guess myself.

I am opting to stick with the first dress.  I also made my clay cake topper yesterday that looks like FI and me and I put the dress I already bought on her, so no going back now! haha
