Toasting beverages

Referring back to a previous post (about how FI was freaking out about money even though we are under budget and not going into debt), I saw another post on another board recently about a champagne toast.

That got me thinking, is a champagne toast really necessary?  Or can people raise their glass with whatever beverage they prefer?

Since we are hosting beer/wine/sig. drink and non-alcholic choices, FI and I decided yesterday a champange toast wasn't really necessary, and have now kept over $300 in our pockets.

What is everyone else doing?

People can toast with whatever they want. Not everyone even likes champagne. We'll probably have champagne available to us and the WP but no one else. Even though it's available to them, I'm not going to make anyone drink it.

We aren't having champagne. We are going to toast with whatever we are drinking.

I think you could get away with  a toast with any beverage, not eveyone uses champagne ...some people do signature drinks for the toast only, so I think you will be fine.

We are using champagne with a rasberry because FI and I  love it!!!!

We are having a champagne toast, but only because it's included with our package. If it wasn't, we would just be doing the toast with whatever people had to drink.

ETA: Our champagne also includes a strawberry with it.

Going to toast with whatever they are drinking. I feel that Its an unnessecary expense seeing there are people that don't like it so it'll just sit there.

Neither of us drink wine what so ever so i will be having my whiskey to toast, it is all i drink & that won't change because it is my wedding.

We are going to do a toast with whatever everyone is drinking.  Most people do not like champagne and it would be too much money IMO to waste it.

We are hosting beer and wine and sodas so we are letting people toast to whatever they have to drink.  Fi doesn't drink at all (in fact, he has had only one sip of alcohol his whole life and it was the night that he proposed to me) so we will be toasting with mountain dew, his favorite thing in the world  I think that it is you and your fi's day and it should be whatever y'all want!

Our venue includes a champagne toast, but that's the only reason we are having it. Otherwise we would just have people use whatever glass they have.

We have open bar, so it will be champagne; but if budget was an issue I'd scrap it and people can toast with whatever they're drinking,

We were going to purchase Champagne; but for budget reasons I decided everyone could toast with whatever was in their hand

We are toasting with champagne- everyone will have a glass poured when they come in from cocktail hour to use for the toasts.

We're having an open bar, so our guests can toast with any drink they have.  We're also serving wine with dinner, but that's because we're getting married at a winery.

we'll probably toast with prosecco for the guests. I already told my parents that this is the one time in my life I want to drink Dom, so I asked my step dad to go on base (he's navy) and buy a couple of bottles for us and the parents. Even if our guests don't like the prosecco, we're only going to offer it, if they don't like it and want to use whatever they're drinking, that's fine too. We're pretty laid back. We just want everyone to have FUN!

We are also toasting with champagne but its included in our package so i didnt really think about it too much.

I think we will wait on this to see if we have the budget for it.

Our venue offers champagne for the toast in the bar package so we're doing that; otherwise, they would be toasting with what they're drinking.

At my friend's wedding, they toasted with the signature drink, but we weren't drinking it so we toasted with water.
