June 2012 Weddings

Freaking out about rain *need xanax*

I keep freaking out that it's going to rain. In the long range forecast it says its going to rain on my wedding day. Everyone thinks I'm crazy that I am freaking out about the rain and it's only February, but my ceremony has to be outside. I would be terribly upset if we had to use our back up plan because it would not be able to seat everyone. I know I should worry, but I can't help myself!

  • I am praying that all of us june brides have sun filled wedding days. Sunshine and good weather all around! *Please God* I'm begging you!
  • I know how you feel. I actually worried about it so much that we moved our venue. Our winter has been so mild I just know it is going to be a long and wet spring! :( Our spring is early June.

  • Don't worry!  I think it's far too early for anyone to know about the forecast with any certainty.  Meteorologists can forecast the temps (whethey they'll be average, below average, or above), but they can't be predicting precip right now.

Four months ago, everyone thought the East was in for a terrible winter due to a freak snow storm on October 31st (remember towns cancelling trick-or-treating?).  In reality, we've had temps in the 60s and haven't seen any snow.
  • They can't predict the weather, even today.
Yesterday, they were saying we were supposed to get 3-4 inches of snow today and because the storm stayed further south and towards the ocean, we should be seeing less than an inch. You just never know with the weather.

this is so true! I know it is easier said then done but try not to worry and stress about it. It really is something that we have no control over and I wouldn't want any of us June brides worried about something that makes us miserable the last few months leading up to our weddings.

  • Thinking about it, we have to be really mindful about controling our worrying between now and June.

We have so much on our minds and we don't need to add to it.  I hope that when I post about my worrying, you all will talk me down.  I'm sure my turn is coming!
  • Thanks Ladies! I feel a little better, but not really. I think I am going to be somewhat of a mess until I'm on my Honeymoon. I think it's sensory/emotions/everything overload for me right now. I am just trying to focus  on just a couple things at a time and trying to focus on only the things I have control over.

  • I, too, am worried about this.  Weather is SO unpredictable in the Ohio Valley where I live.  Shoot, in the first week of May for the Kentucky Derby, one year it could be perfect 75 and sunny and the next year, it could be freezing, 35 and snowing.

Since we decided to have an evening outdoor wedding, I am up in the air about having a Plan B.  I just called around for tent rental as a "just in case" but they want 1/2 the money when I reserve it and the rest 2 weeks before the wedding. I still won't be able to tell a whole 2 weeks out what the weather is going to do.  And any money I pay would be non-refundable.

I'm so torn on what to do. Booking a tent would guarantee that rain wouldn't spoil my wedding -- but it's unexpected expense that I did not budget for.
  • I agree with PP, there is no way you can be sure yet about rain or not the day of.  If you are really concerned, I'd recommend getting a tent to have up just in case.

You are not alone, I too am worried about rain. Our wedding is in Northern Idaho and you can expect any type of weather in early June, everything from snow to scorching heat..you just never know! We have a plan B, to move our ceremony to inside the lodge..but it just wouldn't be the same without the lake view and big snowcapped mountains. I keep telling myself that I can't control the weather, and will be happy as long as I marry my FI at the end of the day...and I'm saying lots of prayers for sunshine ;)
