Burned to death, or I read that they are now pretty sure Amelia Earhart landed her plane on a reef and she tried to signal for help at least 50 times. So she pretty much starved to death waiting for rescue. That would be an awful way to go.

If you mean purely physical, I would say drowning or fire.

I have heard that drowning is the most painful.

There's something terrifying about knowing you need to take a breath and then when your body finally forces you to do it it's just water.

Burning I think either you pass out pretty quick from smoke or your nerve endings go relatively quick so at least you have that.

I think being eaten alive by something big. You're not dead but all these gastric juices are disolving your skin while you're still alive in some giant beast.

Good answer.

Purely physical, I would hate anything slow and painful. Burning, drowning, tortured to death, etc.

Anything painful.  I really have a problem when I can't breath (it freaks me out) so drowning or suffocation would be up there for me.
