I want new bridesmaids dresses

I don't hate the one I picked but it definately wasn't my favorite. The dress I chose is beautiful but it doesn't quite match my theme. I don't see "victorian, vintage" when I picture it in my head. I'm looking at flower girls dresses and all of them that scream my theme don't match my bridesmaid dresses. I made the decision to get the dress because it was only $70 after discount and I liked it better than the other ones the girls were trying on. There's another dress that I can't get out of my head that I REALLY wanted but didn't have the girls try it on because my sister scoffed at the idea of wearing it and it was twice the price.

The dress I chose in the light pink color

The dress I'm dreaming about

I know I need to just deal with it because I'm not going to spend $900 to replace the dresses. I just need to hear from another bride that it'll all be OK! Maybe one of you guys are going through the same thing?

  • I think a good rule of thumb is to stop looking after you've picked everything out. Occasionally in bridal magazines I'll see a dress and think how much I love that one, then I think about how much I loved mine when I tried it on

I agree with bblouin. I have seen other dresses that I have thought "OMG! I want that dress" or "that dress is way more vintage than mine", but I have to remember I love my dress and there is a reason I picked it in the first place and I need to stop looking. I think the same applies to BM dresses. I personlly like the pink one better...and like Schatzi13 said, you could maybe just add a flower?

The dresses are very similar IMO. Could you add a sash or bow to the ones that you already have it you're missing that detail on the second one?

  • Honeslty, I much prefer the dress that you have chosen to the dress you are dreaming of.  The dress you have chosen to me goes exactly with your theme, wheras the flower in the second dress - not so much.  I would stick with what you have got and be happy!

As the others suggested, if you really want something extra, add a flower or a sash or a really pretty and bling-y bracelet to spice up the dress.  But I think you made a good choice and need to stop second guessing yourself - especially since it sounds like your sister loves the dress she has, but doesn't like the Mori Lee.
  • actually I like the one you got better than your dream dress, and it does go with your victorian vintage theme to me.

The one that I didn't pick was the first one I found so it's just haunting me. I like the idea that others have mentioned about adding/removing something to make it more like the 2nd dress. Much less expensive than a new dress altogether too <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />

  • I like the first one way better.

  • They look pretty similar actually. I like the 1st one though. But I agree with bblouin- it's better to stop looking at other dresses!

Figure out what you can add on the dress (or jewlery) to match the look you want. It's probably the cheapest option.

Too be honest I expected to see too very different dresses.  They are very similar.  If you think the second one matches your theme, than the first one must too.  I also think the pearls make the first one more vintage than the flowers IMO.

  • I agree with everyone else.  The dresses are very very similar and I actually think the first one goes better with your theme.  I like it better too.  Maybe you could add a different sash to the one you got to make that part more like the one that you didnt get?

  • The dresses are very similar! I love the DB one...and the Morilee dress was one of my top picks!  But the DB one is unique, and I love it...IT IS OKAY!!! =)
