holy invite crap!

hi ladies, long time no talk...been super crazy w/ my invites. which are mostly in the mail and done! (waiting for a few more addresses that we are stil hunting down) but after keeping my FI and most of the family up until like 1:30 last monday putting the invites together we sealed them and realized we forgot to stamp the reply card envelopes! argh...i of course flipped out but realized not a whole lot to do besides start over...which we didn't have time/energy for. so we sent them...so, check on the invites and my first major WTF issue! but i have been getting lots of compliments on them so...:)

My mother got a call from one of her cousins that she didn't have a reply card envelope.  So I checked our pile and it turns out that about 5 of them didn't get one.  I have no idea why I didn't have someone double check my stuffing of them, it was a crazy day but oh well, people will call if they don't know how to reply.  Hopefully all your relatives will do the same or get a stamp!

i didn't put stamps deliberatly...i didn't think it was a big deal...we got huge compliments for our handkerchief invites

I would never send invites out with reply cards without stamps. That is so rude to your guests and such a hassle.

^^^^ agreed.... I did the same thing and had to buy extra outter envelopes because my mother would NEVER let me send reply cards without stamps.

Totally agree Chelsea. You are likely to not get as many back without a stamp on the envelope too

Uhh, well obviously she didn't do it on purpose to be rude to her guests. It was an honest mistake. Sometimes things just don't work out the way you planned. While I agree it wasn't the best thing to have happened, I don't think it needs to be pointed out how crappy it is in a condescending tone because I'm sure she already knows.

I would be slightly irked if I got an invite without a stamped RSVP envelope, but if I cared at all about the bride or groom, it's not like I'm going to hold it against them for the next 20 years or gossip about them.

And it's not always as easy as 1-2-3 to get new envelopes. I had to be really careful with mine because it would take 2 weeks to get another box shipped to me if I needed more, so maybe she ran out of time. What else was she supposed to do if this was the case? I think it would have been "more rude" to mail out invitations super close to the wedding than to accidentally mail out invitations missing stamps. Just saying.

Why so defensive? It's just a fact... ettiquite says it's rude to send RSVP without stamps. Just the same as it's rude to invite people to reception that weren't invited to ceremony. To me it's black or white. We aren't chastizing her for it..... it's just the way it is.

Caitlin, you ARE chastising her for it.  She already acknowledged that it was a mistake, so continuing to point out to her how unfortunate the situation is doesn't make any sense.  Have you ever made an honest mistake that might put someone out a little?  If so, after admitting your mistake, how would you like it if random people who it DOES. NOT. AFFECT. kept telling you how inconsiderate and rude you were?

She made a mistake, but it's not a world-ending one.  The people who love her should still proceed as normal.. and at the end of the day, she will be married to the one she loves, surrounded by the people who care about her.  That's what matters.  I think people on TK forget that all too often as they get wrapped up into the World of Weddings.

I probably wouldn't care if I got one that wasn't stamped. as many people do, I always have some stamps on hand. I'm not going to miss those 45c.
I'm sure it will be alright

I gave guess the option to mail in the rsvp card and attach a stamp or go to the wedding website and rsvp electronically (stamp free)

um, thanks ladies for the responses, yes i know it's considered rude to not put the stamps on. hence my meltdown and subsequient freak out to my entire family and FI. but the envelopes fit the invite's size and no i couldn't just go buy more. plus the fact that since we had short engagement we didn't send save the dates so i was trying to get my invites in the mail as early as possible w/in the prescribed 6-8 wks. plus the fact that i was going out of town for 4 days last week and didn't want to come home to have to do more. plus the fact that my mom (who has really pretty handwriting) addressed all 120 invites and i wasn't about to make her sit and do it again. i know i will probably get less back and yes i would be a little t/o'ed if i got a reply envelope w/ no stamp but oh well. 

sosaytara thanks for defending me! and ladies, not appreciated that i come here to vent a little about a frustrating situation and people point out how big of a mistake it was. i know it was! oh well..i'm getting married in 52 days, even if no one shows up but FI and I!!

I apologize... my comment was not directed at you, but actually at the poster directly above my first post. I understand you didnt intentionally send them without stamps so I totally get it. Sorry I wasnt more clear!
