June 2012 Weddings

Let them eat... PIE!

Well, our last wedding planning task was to pick out and confirm our cake ... this weekend we had a change of heart and decided to order PIE!!!  5 flavors: cherry, blueberry, apple, peach and strawberry rhubarb.  Our venue will plate the pie with a chocolate baker's cup of vanilla ice cream.  Sweet!

Anybody else doing pies??  (The wedding cake lady at the bakery looked at us like we had five heads when we asked...)

  • Nope. I will be having a champagne color 3 tier paisley print cake in red velvet flavor & cream cheese icing. My fiance's cake will be black and red paisley print in mint chocolate flavor in the shape of a celestial sun with large rays.
    Pie does sound tasty though.
  • I am doing a cake, but I was in a wedding in April where they served pie.  I don't think that's strange at all.

  • There are at least two other girls on here that are doing pies- BUt i can't remember their names

  • I am having pie!!!!!! It came standard with our catering package (since it's a barbeque place that specializes in company picnic type things) and I am so excited!  4 flavors- blueberry, apple, peach, and cherry, with vanilla ice cream.  We are also having cake because FI's cousin owns a bakery so that is her gift to us.  If she didn't insist on doing one, we'd probably just have pie, but I'm sure our guests won't mind the option.  All the extra drssert will go to Sunday's brunch.
  • Our caterer is known for their mud pie and it came with our caterering package. So we will have mud pie for everyone...but because I am GF we got some GF cupcakes.

  • Ooooh I love pie and would love to be at a wedding that served pie!  It's so unexpected but unique and with that big of a selection, everyone is bound to find something they like!

<div>Dude, I really want to do pie now....hmmm...</div>
  • I had my traditional cake accompanied with cake pops and chocolate cupcakes. My husband (I've been saying that since SATURDAY!) wanted strawberry pie instead of a Groom's cake. Because of this we had strawberry, peanut butter, and lemon (minus mirangue). It was a HUGE hit!
  • Congrats khines!  And so happy to hear it was a hit :)
