Waterproof Foundation for a crier?

I need to find a great foundation that will last all day in a June outdoor wedding and be able to handle me crying (I guarantee I won't be able to help it).  Have seen several brands that say they are long wear, but really don't know if long wear equates to cry resistant ;)
Anyone have any suggestions?

  • I think if you have a foundation you like then stick with it but definitely use a primer. It definitely makes a difference. There are some for your whole face and eye shadow ones. This urban decay one always gets good reviews on the Fashion and Beauty board on the Nest. Clicky
  • Not sure of smudge-proof foundation, as I am on that quest myself :)

I do know, however, if you use primer before and a setting/finishing powder after your foundation, and then a setting spray (Urban Decay setting spray or Model in a Bottle), this greatly helps your foundation stay and last all day.  HTH!

I use the primer from Avon and love it. It's amazing what a primer can do. They compare the Avon primer to the urban decay primer the Avon one is just cheaper.

I wouldn't worry so much about a "smudge proof" foundation as I would worry about a waterproof eyeliner and mascara. If you cry, you can always have someone use their fingers and blend your face in again. If the mascara starts to run, well then you look like a racoon. Definitely get a good primer- the Urban Decay one that PP suggested is great according to my friend who is a make up artist.

ETA: A mousse foundation would be a good bet if you are doing DIY. Just make sure that you blend, blend, blend!!!!

  • For foundation I would recommend using whatever brand you like best but just be sure to use a primer first and a setting spray after.  When you do cry, also don't wipe, blot.

For primer, I just use the Covergirl one and I use Urban Decay setting spray.  With this combo I can do my make up in the morning and by the time I take it off everything is still there as though I just put it on.

Same as PP - primer works great. I got the store brand at Sephora and use it under foundation when I need to have my makeup last all day in the summer (I sweat quite a bit). If you're not used to using primer, play around with it. You sometimes have to apply the foundation quickly, or it gets very streaky. With other primers, you might have to let them set.

I've also had excellent experience with Maybelline Super Stay 24 h foundation. It has medium-light coverage, looks natural, and stays on. I've forgotten to take it off before going to the gym, and most of it was on afterwards. When I had a terrible cold and was blowing my nose every 2 minutes, it pretty much stayed on. It's at drugstores, and should be easy to try out.

I've never had any luck with waterproof mascaras (they always run), except Blinc. It's a completely different kind of mascara, and absolutely will not run. Not cheap, and sometimes hard to find, but it's amazing.
