Having THE hardest time with BM dresses :( vent, sorry!!

I had no idea that this would be the one thing I'd be stressing the most about :( I thought I had it in the bag early on but it wasnt so. Now I am feeling frantic trying to find something in the color I love. That is proving to be a huge issue.

I was just going to let all my girls pick a short dress with straps of some sort in a neutral color but they all kept coming back to me with... what should we do and, what do you want and .. gaaa!!!! I dindt think it would be that hard, but clearly it is and I think its because of the color?!

My colors will be hydrangea green, chocolate brown and burlap. I was going to do chocolate brown BM dresses or green which would be so much easier but I dont like the look of either.

I love the look of neutrals much better so my vision is something in the "burlapy" family but that is sooo hard!!

And I keep toying with the fabric too, organza or taffeta?!?!  can we mix fabrics?!?

And to make matters worse I keep looking back at my dress to get the whole vision, (would these look good with mine?!) and its making me reconsider mine :( jlksjdbfliusbdfliu

I am the most easy going person which is why I wanted to let them just run with but clearly that was easier said than done :(

Grrr I dont know what I'm looking for positng this here but I needed to get it out, sorry for the vent but I am so stressed over this for some reason, I feel like it is a huge part of the "look" of the wedding especially when I'll have 8 girls, Im just freaking out a little!!!

  • I can understand your BM's positon, since "neutral" is open to interpretation. I definitely think selecting a designer and color will be easier for them, then they can pick the style.

I know you want to be accommodating to your girls but sometimes have such wide open options makes things harder! Why won't chocolate brown look ok? Or just any shade of green? i've seen weddings where the BMs just wore a green dress of any shade and it looked beautiful. I personally don't love the uniform look and I like when BMs wear something that reflects their personality.

Since they are looking for more guidance, I say go ahead and choose the specific color and fabric, and if they end up finding something they like better in a different fabric, let them use it.

  • Zim, I guess eiter of those oprions would be a safe one but neither really have the feel I am going for, I really love these click, with similar colored flowers?! Iits just so hard! Im not sure if the color would be spot on and I think I would have to go with one dress becuase variations seem so hard?! I dont know

  • Daria, I do like the look of variations of green I have seen too, my only concern are the many variations and there are certainly some that I wouldnt like, which is why I steered away from green, maybe I should reconsider that thought though, but this is what I keep doing, going back and forth!!

  • Have you tried looking at department stores like target, kohls, macy's, jcpennys and such? If not I would recommend looking there. I could not find anything at the Bridal Stores that fit the picture I had in my head. I did end up finding one at Macy's for much cheaper.

<div>This is the direction I started in but this proved to be too difficult when going for the "all different dresses" feel, I feel like I need to find a designer with many choices and pick a color and have them go from there, but again my problem with this is finding the right color!</div>

  • DB "Latte" seems to be a pretty close color match with lots of BM dresses to choose from.

  • I would say to go with David's bridal also. They have a variety of colors and fabrics to choose from.
  • I had a similar problem when I first started looking for bridesmaid's dresses. My colors are black and white and I just wanted everyone to get little black cocktail dresses, I figured they sell so many dresses in black it should be simple, right? Well I was very wrong. It was difficult to get my bridesmaids to understand exactly what I wanted (appropriate for the grandparents and so on). Plus it is nearly impossible to get a similar look with subtle differences in colors and materials. I ended up giving up and going to david's bridal and just picking one dress which was a completely different direction than I first thought. All in all I recomend you go find dresses you like somewhere, a bridal shop like David's Bridal or something is probably easiest, and just have your bridesmaids show up and try them on. Ultimately it will end up saving you a lot of stress. Good luck with whatever you decide!
