The moment it is real

We just picked up our wedding license on our lunch break today. This for me was the first time that it really hit me that I'm getting married in 24 days! It is just weird to think that it is only that little piece of paper that we need. As the last minute details and stress approach I was just reminded that I'm marrying my best friend and that is what really matters. 

So I started thinking what was the moment that it really sunk in for you, that you are getting married?

Yeah, still hasn't hit me yet.
Probably won't until after I say I do.

I just don't get super excited about things, idk why. Probably because I was always taught that. It's awful.
Not to say that I'm not excited, because I TOTALLY am. It just hasn't hit me.

It hasn't hit me yet either. I thought maybe with the rsvp's coming in that it would hit me but it hasn't. I'm hoping it will hit me when we get our marriage license ( 1 week before the wedding) or maybe at my bach. party ( the weekend before the wedding) but i don't know if it will hit me, maybe when i'm walking down the aisle. This moment has been a long time coming so i prob. just think i'm dreaming bc i always thought it would never happen.

for me it was when i started changing my name on everything at work to get prepared for after the wedding, its SO WEIRD to see!

It started to really feel real when my FH picked up the marriage license 2 weeks ago and then ever more so last night, we met with the wedding officiant

It's hit me a few different times.

At my last fitting when I got to see the perfect hem, sending out invitations, and because we've gone to so many weddings - the fact that ours is NEXT. We're going to get our license on Friday!

Sending the invitations was a bit moment for me. And then, the countdown finally hit me after my bridal shower. We're going to get our license tomorrow on my lunch break and I expect to feel butterflies, excitement, all those things... June 2nd will be here in a flash!

When I caught a glimpse of my profile at my dress fitting.  My BM and seamstress were working on my bustle and I had my veil and earrings and shoes and everything on.  I had tried the dress on many times before, but for some reason, this particular time caught me by surprise.  I think it was seeing a bride in the side mirror and then realizing it was me!  Whew, got me all worked up!

Meeting with the wedding director at church and walking through the ceremony and how it will all work really made it feel real for me. 

The moment I knew I was "ready" was last weekend at my cousin's wedding when I was wishing I was walking down the aisle as a bride (to my groom of course) instead of as a bridesmaid.

Last night was our monthly euchre night with the neighbors, and we walked in to the house and Dottie said "there is the future Mrs. Smith." It made me stop in my tracks.

Yesterday when we got our marriage license and closed on a house!!! There have been other little moments too; like getting RSVPs back and trying the dress on at the 1st fitting, but yesterday was the biggest it's almost here moment!!! So excited and nervous I'm forgetting something!!!!

My 2nd fitting. I didn't cry when I bought my dress. I didn't cry at my 1st fitting, but at my 2nd when I saw that it was perfect. It hit me that I was getting married next month and I started crying.

For some reason I was looking at our registry presents and a note that said, "For your new life together." That was it for me....

I have to be honest though, it was awhile before any of it hit me; I was swimming in planning, but now that it's calmed down, I feel like it's all real and coming together....

Still hasn't quite hit me yet, but sending out the invitations was definitely a big step!  I know getting our license on May 25 will be huge too.

Agreed.  I feel like it should have hit me by now, but it hasn't.  Doesn't mean I am any less excited.  I'm guessing it will hit me at the rehearsal.

Same for me, I have one month today before I say I do and I got super excitect this morning when i looked and saw the 9th.  It hasn't fully hit me yet either. I am getting stuff ready to change my name so its becoming more real. Its a bittersweet. I like the excitement of preparing for it all but i know it will be gone soon. I know I will be happily married but I wonder what i will have to do once its over. Weird I know.

My FI and I were talking about out honeymoon, which is just a short couple day trip until we can do an official one, and he looked and said it doesn't matter as long as I am relaxing with my wife. WOW I will be his WIFE soon!

There have been some small things that have really gotten me excited. Like a friend of mine posted on Facebook about the trip, condensing all my spreadsheets into one with the few things that we need left on it, seeing my bridal portraits, and the biggest was getting the marriage license.

The weirdest thing was the other day when I was watching a video over on the DW board. I realized that will be me standing there in less than 4 weeks and the next video these ladies see will probably be mine.

Still hasn't quite hit me yet. Friday is 50 days and when we're getting our license, so it might then. June 1st is my work bridal shower, so between that and it finally being June it might hit me then. If not, maybe at the rehearsal haha.

I have little flashes of "real".

The biggest was when I saw FI in his tux coat/shirt. We also signed something Mr & Mrs. Newname for  something. It's getting close!
