Hey ladies! Just wanted to pop in and say Hi while I'm waiting for R to show up. It has been an awesome visit so far, besides a couple minor setbacks. i didn't get into Dryden till Monday, I missed my flight from Thunder Bay, and had to stay at my step-moms, but that was a nice visit with her. my dad brought his new gf to the airport to meet me and I wasn't too impressed, but she somehow managed to convince him to come to the wedding. Not sure how I feel about that exactly, but I will deal with it as it comes.
Yesterday I took R to get his bandages changed and I was able to hold back the tears until I got outside away from him later. His foot is not that bad, but the wound in his thigh looks awful. It's now 2 inches deep and an inch and a half long. He did really good an was able to get it changed without a sedative (yay, so proud of him!) for the first time. The doctor told me how very lucky he was because 805 of blasto cases don't survive. He will be on the antibiotics for 6 months to a year to make sure it doesn't come back. I held onto him for a good 20 minutes after hearing that and it was all I could do not to cry in front of him. I do feel very incredibly lucky to still have him here and would again like to thank everyone for their T&P.
He had an awesome time at his party, and I did too., It was an amazing thing for me to be able to celebrate with him, and to have a big party for him. His staff was excellent, and they all chipped in to get him a DSi Excel as a b.day/going away gift and I thought he was going to wet his pants when he opened it lol. He was bragging about FI all day as well, showing off gifts from him and saying "my future dad!" I told FI when we were chatting alter and he said he couldn't stop smiling. He told R to have a good b.day, son,a nd when I told R, he had a bigger grin than when he opened the DSi!
Anyhow, just wanted to let everyone know I'm having a blast. Tomorrow I take him to Toronto and then it's off to his new placement. Wish us luck that he has a good experience with his first flight, and getting settled into the treatment center.
