June 2012 Weddings

Need color help!

Hey everyone!

So I was pretty sure to use gray and pink as our wedding colors, but now we have changed our venue and I think it won't match. It is a hotel with a green carpet (not really beautiful, I have to admit), similar to what Pantone calls Forest Green. It would be nice to combine that with autumn colors, but the wedding is in June and we want something fresh!

Any ideas which colors to choose to match this forest green hotel room?

Thanks a lot!

  • TBH, I like the combo of green and pink, and if you really want to keep pink and grey as your colors, I think you would be fine.  If you wanted to make sure nothing clashed with the carpet, you could certainly try for shades of pink and gray that match well with it.

  • Honestly, I think your original colors will be fine.  The floor won't play that much into your wedding.  There will be tables set up covering most of it and if you have a dance floor, that won't be the carpeting.  Lighting will play a big part too.  I wouldn't worry about the carpet at all and stick with your original choice if that's what you really want.  Most ball rooms and banquet halls have ugly carpeting that doesn't always match a brides color or decor, you just have to ignore it.  That's just my opinion though.
  • I agree with PP's...if those are the colors you want go for it!  I'd bet no one will even notice the color of the rug, I know it's definitely not what I look at when I go to weddings.
  • Ditto PPs. If you have chair covers and table linens in grey and pink along with everything else that will be those colors, the carpet won't really be noticed. You could take more attention off of the carpet and do uplighting and lighting on the ceiling (like a starry ceiling), this will draw the eyes up and nobody will even pay attention to the carpet.

  • I agree with PPs.  I think grey and pink will go well with the deep green, and as others said, people won't even notice the color of the carpet.  I think they would only be likely to notice if your colors clashed with the carpet REALLY BAD, and the grey and pink definitely won't.  Good luck with this!

I really don't think anyone will notice the carpet to be honest. Your original colors are just fine. Having other decor would definitely take your eye off it if you're that concerned.

  • No one will notice the floor at your venue. I can't even tell you what the floor at our venue is. People aren't going to be saying "OMG did you see how horrible her colors looked with the carpet at her venue?"  You can keep your original colors and be fine.
  • I agree with the other pps.  No one will really pay attention to the carpet so if you want to use pink and grey go for it!  Or, if you want it to coordinate, I would just change the shade of pink and grey.

  • Thanks ladies, that really comforts me! We indeed have a starry ceiling, hope it works to draw the attention off the carpet :) And now I go back to my stationery design and flower ideas and do it all in pink and gray. 8) Thanks again!
