Can you ladies help me please?

My mom needs a list of things I still need that are "typical" shower gifts but I can't think of anything I am missing. Here is what I have so far:

Unity Candle
Guest book and pen
Flutes
Cake knife and server
Garters
Cake topper
Flower girl baskets
Ring bearer pillow
"Money" bags for the dollar dance
Something borrowed, blue, old and new
Candy for our candy throw for the kids

Am I missing anything?

Why do you throw candy at kids? 

Maybe these are typical to be shower gifts in your region?  I picked my own cake topper and garters based on the style of our wedding.  Our guest book was custom made by our photog with our e-pics.

Like PP, most of my shower gifts were home/kitchen related.

That's what I thought too but my mom freaked out on me when I bought all this stuff because she said people give these things at showers.

Nevermind the shower part...am I forgetting anything other than marriage certificate?

So we're not talking about shower gifts at all? We're talking about accessories that you need for your day of?

Still would like to know about throwing candy at kids...

Some people give some of  these items but I can't promise anyone will purchase most of that stuff; the flutes and cake knife are more likely but I can't say in memory I've ever seen most of those items on a registry.

And since we don't know what you've got going on wedding-wise, we can't truly give you good advice on what you're missing. For me, I'm doing themed tables so my escort chart isn't ordered, but that's not something everyone will have...KWIM?

Haha. Instead of allowing the kids to join in to the bouquet/garter toss we (along with our WP) are going to do a candy toss for the kids.

Yes accessories. She wanted to give me these things as shower gifts but I would rather buy exactly what I wanted. (I know...I'm being picky).

That's a really good point. I guess I didn't know if there was anything major I was forgetting. I have escort cards to do as well but I have those already too. All the things in my first post I already have.

Like PP said if you are talking about accessories that you need for your day of then here are some possible others...

Card holder
Disposable camera's for the tables
Item's for the powder room (i.e. panty hose, tampons, band-aid, nail polish, etc.)
Seeds, rice to toss after ceremony.

Has your mom been to a shower where these items were given to the bride?  Like PP's said, usually home, kitchen, etc. If your mom is anything like my mom, she just has random totally unrealistic freak-outs every so often. For no reason, and then comes back to reason. : )

I also am interested in the candy/kid thing.

She has been to showers where those things are given. I do have the card holder and a bathroom emergency kit (with a super cute little poem). Thank you for the other two things, I hadn't thought of those.

The candy toss for the kids takes the place of the bouquet/garter toss. This way they can have something fun to do too.

My mom is doing the same thing. We are having a low key wedding with food, beer and wine and a band. We weren't planning on doing alot of the traditional things, but she bought us a cake server (at least she let me pick it out so it fits our decor) and guest book.

I  never heard of this before, our shower gifts typically come from the registry or is something a little more specific to the bride (as if you were shopping for her birthday). 

I don't think your being picky by wanting to get these things yourself. I got all mine without even thinking twice. 

That being said, I can't really think of anything your missing if you do go this route.

I've heard of people registering for their cake serving set and chamapagne flutes for the day of and receiving those as shower gifts.

I'm with everyone else.  If I'm doing any of those things (not doing everything) I've gotten it myself.  I guess it might be a good shower gift for someone who knew the them really well (like a grandma or something).

agree, this is what I got. I didn't get any of those items you listed. We have bought them or made them ourself. People don't know our taste/theme for the wedding so I wouldn't want people to get me those items at my shower

<font color="#3366ff">I don't think you are being picky at all, those items I bought myself because I knew exactly what I wanted based on our taste and our wedding theme/colors. If anyone buys accessories it is usually the WP and they coordinate with the bride, or at least in my experience.

Not sure what you are missing, but this weekend I went and got items like the card box for the gifts table, I got the remaining stuff to put my centerpieces together, the BM's and I went shoe shopping for the day of and bought dresses for the RD and spanx and undergarments for under our dresses, tiaras for the FG and earings and stuff for the BM. Just little stuff like that.  Hope that helps. </font>

It does help. Thank you. I pretty much already have most of that stuff. I guess I feel like I am lacking things to do so I am afraid I am forgetting stuff if that makes sense.
