Fitness group check in!

How has everyone been doing over the past week?

My physical therapist is trying to increase my level.  He wants me at 100% in 4 weeks... we'll see about that but I am definitely hoping for it.

  • Last night I did Jillian Michaels 30 Day shred video. I borrowed it from a girlfriend and it works. My thighs have been sore all day today. I really wanted to do it again tonight but now I am not so sure.

    I used to go through that all the time, but then I realized if I was always waiting until I wasn't sore anymore, I would never get to the point where I wasn't sore after working out.  I ended up doing the workouts anyway, but taking them a little easier - doing the modified moves, or even sitting out on a couple of the harder parts, just to power through the workout and keep up on the things I could do.

    Also, apparently the juice from cherries, blueberries, acai, pomegranates, and cranberries helps a lot with post-workout pain - the antioxidants help a lot with muscle fatigue.

    I found a wonderful new ap on my iPhone that you can use on the net too! It's called daily burn. It tracks calories for you and shows how much you burn with each work out. So far I am down 9 lbs in two weeks and I am thrilled! I havent been working out, just counting calories with this ap. I do miss zumba incredibly and I need to schedule "me time" this week to go!

    I don't have an iphone but what is this? I might try to use it over the internet.

    Daily burn is a either an ap or a website clicky that will track how many calories you intake and how many calories you burn in a day! It is truly the simplest thing I have ever done. Every time I am done eating something, I either log in to my phone or computer and type in what I ate, or what I did to work out. For example, I can type in that I ate a YOPLAITS WHIP VANILLA and it will pop up with the serving size and how many calories I have eaten. It works the same for working out. You can type in ZUMBA and it will tell you how many calories you burned in an hour! It also gives you weigh ins. I have been doing it for two weeks and I have only been watching my caloric intake and I have lost 9 lbs. Once I get "me" time again I am going to start tracking my workouts (its hard to track workouts when you are running around all day).

    It also allows you to set goals. For example: my caloric intake goal is between 1200 and 1700, I placed the later one so high because I didn't want to feel too bad if I went over. However, I have never gone beyond 1400 since I have been watching my calories. It's wonderful! I highly suggest using this tool :-)
