....for my computer!!

Last Sunday, I was watching some episodes of Ghost Hunters on my laptop while working on the envelopes for my Tears of Joy packets. I left the room for awhile causing the screen saver to come on which messes with my internet connection. So when I get back in the room, I close my laptop, wait 5 seconds then open it again to reset my internet connection. But when I opened it the screen stayed black. Tried a couple more times, same thing. I even tried force shutting down and restarting. Now when I try to turn it on, I hear the disc drive make it's start up noises, and the fan kicks on, and that's it....still a black screen.

Was hoping to drop it off with a computer guy today to have it looked at and fixed but he didn't answer when I called when I got off work today and haven't heard back from him about when I can drop it off.

ALL my wedding stuff is on my computer. [Stupidly ] I didn't back up any of my files onto a flash drive because I have never had any problems with my computer. I'm really hoping my computer can be saved. And if not, I'm at least hoping he can access the files so I don't have to completely start over. That...would result in a panic attack.

Oh NO!! we had a virus on our computer a few months ago and were worried we'd lose everything on it. I had (have) all our monograms, our wedding playlists, our slideshow and other wedding related things on it, and the AWESOME guys at best buy were able to not only get all of our data back, but also put it on a backup hard drive just in case. Thoughts and prayers go out to you (and your computer!!)! I know first hand how scary and frustrating it can be, so hang in there, hopefully it's something simple or just a part that needs fixed/replaced. And when you get your computer back, BACK IT UP!! lol

they can retrieve the data, my mb died & they took everything including my favorties (bookmarks) & put it on a external hd for me. What they can't save it your programs. Hope your computer is not fried.

Praying for you and your computer. I would freak if my computer died. I am on it all the time. It is my life line almost... lol

Thanks everyone! No word from the guy tonight/last night (?? It's midnight so not sure how to phrase it) so hopefully I will be able to get ahold of the guy tomorrow and drop it off in the morning.

It sounds like the screen died, honestly.  It's an easy though kind of expensive fix if you have someone else do it for you.

TBH, I'd be more worried about the fact that your screensaver messes up your internet connection O_o

Not sure if any of you will come back and check this but thought I would give an update. I found it it's the logic board which I understood to be the main hard drive of my computer. They wanted to charge $700-800 to repair it and basically told me it's best to get a new computer. Unfortunately, a new computer won't fit in to my finances right now so I started shopping around for repair costs. I gave the OK to a different company today to go ahead and fix it and they're going to charge me $500. Should have my computer back next Thursday or Friday!

As far as the screen saver acting up my connection...it started doing it after FI contacted our internet provider and had to change our password so I think it may have had something to do with that.

I'm definietly itching to get back into full swing of wedding planning! Flower appointment tomorrow morning with my mom and FMIL!
