What to wear

Hello knotties-
My aunt will be getting ordained online and will marry FI and I and we're both really happy about that (she's like a mom to me).  Anyway, she keeps asking me what she should wear and I am coming up short.  Any thoughts or ideas?

FWIW, my mom (this aunt is my mom's sister) is wearing a strapless black dress from DB: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Strapless-Satin-Ballgown-with-Pick-up-and-Sash-81123_Bridal-Party-Bridesmaids-Long-Bridesmaid-Dresses

TIA

Re: What to wear

  • Well, most male officiants just wear a dark suit, so how about a dark dress suit? Or a black cocktail dress and a blazer?

Although really I think she could wear anything she wants as long as it fits the formality of your wedding.

  • I probably just tell her to dress like she would if she were just a guest.

  • Thanks.  I don't want her to be too formal, which was the dilemma I was having.

  • I would get her a corsage to wear, but other than that, I think just what she would wear as a guest would be good. :)

Agreed.. I think she is maybe looking for guidance. As formal, informal and etc. Seems like you are going for formal. I would just tell her something formal.
  • I'd ask her to wear whatever she would wear if she were a guest! :-)

    Agreed.

  • I think that the biggest thing that would be good might be to encourage her to wear something solid colored.  Anything super bright or patterned might be distracting in your ceremony photos.  If she avoided anything too eye-catching, I'm sure it would be great!
