XP: Anyone making their veil?

I'm trying to.  I got the tulle attached to the comb, tried it on & I just don't like it. It's too stiff, it doesn't "flow" nicely.

Did you buy special tulle?  I think I bought the regular kind a Joann's.   

or know of anyway to soften it?

I'm at the point where I might give up and buy one elsewhere.

I may end up making my veil. I would like a bird cage veil but I want it to be white ( like my dress) with gold accents. I can't find any. I may purchase a plain bird cage and where a gold comb or hair pin. at the top of it. I am actually going to some bridal stores today, to see if I can find a white bird cage veil with gold accents if not. I am making my own.

My Joann's specifically had a "bridal tulle" section - bridal illusion tulle is much softer than "regular" tulle, and flows much more nicely.  That's what I'm using for my veil.  You can also sew beads or pearls to the bottom to get it to hang more nicely; they'll add some weight to help out.

The only thing I can think of to soften what you already have would be to play with it a lot and wear it out a bit, but then you run the risk of damaging it as well.

I was going to make mine until my FMIL didn't like that idea so she got me a mantilla one.

I was going to use the "bridal tulle" joann's has that Abbe mentioned above.  I was also going to sew on some lace to make a mantilla veil.

This is what I'm using too. The fabric I bought is really pretty and flows really nicely, so I'd recommend this if you can't get your veil how you like it.

I'm not making mine, but I know leaving it in the room with you while you take a hot shower can help smooth out any wrinkles.  If you haven't already spent too much, I would try getting the bridal tulle like Abbe said.

I'm not making mine, but I am embellishing it a bit. I wanted one with a hint of purple (my main wedding color) but they don't exist. Luckily I have a good friend that is into that kind of thing, and the 2 of us were able to create something really pretty.
