June 2012 Weddings

Tanning (Taken from another board)

Hay Ladies,
Wow, I actually have time to get on! Anyways I saw this on another baord and thought I'd bring it here.

Will you tan before your wedding?

I will not be tanning before my wedding since I already have olive skin, and I don't want to look too dark for the wedding. I want to look like myself.

Re: Tanning (Taken from another board)

  • I will be tanning for my wedding.  I'm super duper pale and have a hard time distinguishing me from my dress.  Normally it doesn't bother me, but for this special occassion I will allow myself too.  I am fully aware of the risks and I'm not trying to be dark.  I'd just like a little color!

  • Yes! I will be tanning bc I love how i look tan and i usually spend my summers laying by the pool anyway. Since i will probably have a strapless dress and wont want tan lines i will be tanning before the wedding. I'll probably only go a few times because i hate fake tanning, but i want to be tan for my wedding.

  • I will be tanning only to even out my lines, i have a darker complexion so as soon as i go outside i tan, without trying, being that i am wearing a strapless dress i will need to even things out. I am not a fan of tanning and will not be going a lot.

  • I will tan before my wedding for sure. I have olive skin as well and I feel like when I have extra color I look healthier and better. I LOVE tanning in the first place ( I know it's a terrible habit).

  • Probably not.  I tend to burn rather than tan, so it winds up being painful; actually, I've never "gone tanning," but I burn really easily in the sun.  If I do "tan" I'll do a spray - but really, it's just not me.  My post-burn tans also tend to stick around FOREVER, the last burn I got (in August) is still apparent if you look closely at my shoulders.  I'm pretty good about remembering sun lotion, but when I forget it ends up badly!  I figure if worst comes to worst, I'll just have my MUA take care of my strap lines.

  • I will only use a spray tan if I have apparent lines from being outside that look ridiculous with a one strap dress. Tanning is not me. I've never done it and I don't see the need to start for myself.
  • Definitely going tanning! I am way too pale. In fact, I just got a spray tan for our engagement pics tomorrow. I'll be going indoor tanning for about 2 months before the wedding though so it looks natural and doesnt start coming off my dress haha FI is really tan so in pictures it looks better when we're the same skin color. :)

  • I will spray tan.  I used to tan in beds when I was younger but had 3 cancerous moles removed before I was 24 from it - so now its only spray tan for me!
  • I won't be tanning, I also burn instead of tanning.  I'm also really pale but  my sister is in the beauty field with waxing and make-up and all that so I'll probably talk to her about whatever to do.
  • I tan all the time so I definitely will. I pay a fee every month to a tanning salon for unlimited tanning and love it. I love looking tan.

  • I currently am tanning for our e pics and will be tanning for the wedding. I think everyone looks better with a little bit of color.

I think people look better comfortable. Whether that means they are comfortable tanning or not tanning.
  • I will tan for the wedding. I only have to go twice and I get tanned fast.
  • I will be tanning as well. Normally I wouldnt but i think with the white dress and me being so pale, it would look weird. I am not trying to get super dark, just a little color

  • I've never gone tanning and don't currently intend to prior to the wedding.  I did use the Jergens Natural Glow moisturizer on my legs last summer and actually really liked how that turned out.  I had to avoid my knees and ankles after a few applications though since they did get more orange, but the rest of my legs looked great.  So a few weeks before the wedding I'll probably apply this to my legs, arms and torso and leave my face for the MUA.  I'm going to test it out this summer again just to make sure.  If that doesn't work out ... I'll just go as me Smile

No way will I be tanning for the wedding. I have such pale skin I burn super easily so if I tried to get tan I'd end up looking red in all my wedding pictures. On top of that I'm paranoid about getting skin cancer and wear sunscreen regularly. I have learned to embrace my paleness and I want to look like my usual self in my wedding photos. I figure I'll just get a dress that looks good with my natural shade. In the past I've used Jergens Natural Glow lotions which works pretty well to take off the sharpness off my paleness. If I do anything this is probably the route I will go.

  • I will definitely be going tanning.  I used to be such a tan little kid because I was outside all the time, but now I've gotten really pale.  I do have olive skin, so I tan really easily and won't really need to do too much tanning before the wedding.  I just think I look a lot better with some color.  Exhibit A: my siggy pic-I think the left, paler picture looks so much worse than the one on the right where I'm a little darker.

  • I tan pretty easy so I get some awesome tan lines as a diver (for those of you who are not familiar with these tan lines they are pretty funny looking) and person who just generally likes to be outside.  I'm going to tan just to even everything out.

When I said I think everyone looks better with a little bit of color I wasn't meaning everyone should tan. I meant that I think people look nice with color being blush, a tan, or their natural glow. Just wanted to explain a little bit. I wasn't trying to come off as the tanning bed advocate.

I agree though the most important thing is being comfortable. :)

I will be tanning, but more so I won't get burned as bad on the honeymoon. I'll be miserable for the rest of the trip if I get burned. I also look better tanned :)
  • I think I would like to tan for the wedding but I am nervous to. I have never been tanning so I don't even know how to work the beds or sprays or whatever. Plus I also burn quickly so I would most likely burn anyway :(

My gym offers free tanning with my membership but I have never bothered to take advantage of it. Hmmmmm.

  • i have gone tanning a few times in my life- to try to get a light base before going on a cruise or vacation so as not to burn while on my trip.  i have to do this very slowly (starting at like 4 minutes) and working my way up to 7 or 8- sounds ridiculous but i am pretty pale.  i will probably do this for the wedding, but the main point will be to have the base for the honeymoon.

  • If you ladies do tan - PLEASE do safe sun! Spray tan is always preferred to laying in the bed but please take care of your skin

I will be tanning a little bit. I just want a little color for the wedding and I don't want to fry on our honeymoon!

  • Definitely tanning.  I am way too pastey to put on my white dress right now.  I very rarely tan so i don't think it will hurt me to do it for a special occasion.

  • I'll probably go once or twice just so I have a little bit of a base before going on the honeymoon so I won't burn (I load up on sunscreen and still burn!). But I'll get spray tanned - I get in done once a week or every other week now anyway. (my friend owns a tanning salon that has spray tanning and I usually go to visit or I would never go once a week!)
