Another Shower Question

So I think we nailed down my shower for out here where I go to school. My sister and best friend are hosting it but definitely want lots of help from me. I've gone to the coffee place that's in Des Moines so about 40 min from me for work events and they have a nice room to use for get togethers. I called to get details because we've been struggling with a location. They said if it's under 15 people they charge $50 for the room. Well we have 30 people on the list so we're good there. Then they said the only outside food they allow is cake. So I thought we could do 2-4 so it's in between meals and people won't expect a full meal and do a bridal-y cake then my sister and friend pay for drinks. Do you think that sounds ok?

I'm trying to keep it as inexpensive as possible since they are both college students and I am as well. A friend of my sister's found 2 places in town but they charge by hour or day and it'd range from $50-100 and we'd have to bring everything in
  • I say go to the place that is free for over 15 people and bring a cake in and even just some crackers cheese and meat. That willl be fun and inexpensive. I think it sounds fun! :)

  • The place is 40 mins away? Not to sound super lame, but is there a way to book a room on campus for free? That way you can save on gas money and more people are likely to show up.

I was thinking we could do a baking day the day before and make a cake. My mom has a great chocolate cake recipe from her mom

I should've mentioned like half the guests live in Des Moines and half here. Most the places here that are used for things like bridal showers, weddings, etc cost to rent through the event planning/catering people

    That sounds fun!
  • Since on campus doesn't work I think the coffe shop will be fine.

  • I think the coffe place will be fine. And if it is around that time, then I think it will be fine just to have cake and drinks. :)
