Concerns about bridal shower

Hey ladies, time is flying so quickly that I didn't realize that my shower is scheduled for less than 2 weeks from now.

My aunts offered to throw it for me. One of them contacted me mid-April about it and I provided names for the guest list. She wanted phone numbers, and I didn't have all of them on hand, so she told me she would get in touch with me after she got back from her vacation to get the rest (she was going away for a week).

Now all of a freakin sudden it's May 14th and I just realized I haven't heard from her yet. I think we both may have dropped the ball on this one (I should have realized this before today..). I plan on calling her this evening, but thought I would get some input from the other June 2012 brides first.

I feel rude calling and asking about a shower that she's not even obligated to host. I don't want to bug her. But I'm also concerned that with less than 2 weeks to go, people won't be able to make it because you know, they have lives too.

I won't care if no one even shows up, but it would be such a waste for them to host a party for me if no one comes. At the very least, I know at least 5-7 people would be in attendance (myself, my mom, and my sister included) but at this point, I'm concerned that no one else will be able to make it because of the short notice.

Advice on how to approach this (or to leave it alone) please!!

I think you have every right to ask her about it.  She offered so you shouldn't feel bad.  She should have contacted you before now though.  Just ask her, she's family.

agree. I would give her a call just to touch base and see whats going on.

I had my shower a couple months ago and for the longest time i hadn't heard anything about plans for the shower ( and i'm a control freak) so i asked my moh ( who was the hostess) if  she needed any help with anything or if she needed me to do anything just so she knows that i'm thinking about how the shower planning is going. That kind of helped ease my mind that she is planning the shower, i just hadn't heard of the plans.

I would try that. Just call her up and ask if she needs you to do anything or if she needs help with anything. she will then let you know how the shower planning is going or if she forgot all about the shower.

I don't think it's rude to ask, especially if she has already offered to host. I would make sure I had all the numbers and give her a call and apologize for it taking so long. Maybe she doesn't want to bug you about it and doesn't realize how fast it's all coming up?

Agreed! She also could have gotten the other phone numbers from guests you <em>did</em> have have numbers for so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
