QOTD!!

So since Valentine's Day is just around the corner how many ladies celebrate it? Do you do anything special? If you don't celebrate it, why?

Me and my FI do not celebrate Valentine's day. We both feel like if someone loves someone you should show it everyday, not just one specific day. Plus everything is so overly price so that the next day it can all be 50% off.

I got engaged on Valentine's Day last year so it'll be our 1-year enagement anniversary!

Which is funny because we're anti-Valentine's day, so it was the one day he could have totally surprised me... and he did.

We'll be having dinner at our favorite Portuguese restaurant and then probably having sex.  Hey, you asked....

I agree with you bells, it's a holiday that makes 90% of single people feel like crap and half the people in relationships feel like crap. We don't celebrate it. I really want to see The Vow this weekend though.

Aww :) As it should be!

As for us, we always do a fancy schmancy dinner and we usually exchange gifts, but I find it all kind of stupid. I asked fiance to stop the gift portion last year and didn't get him anything and he still got me something so...lol

Last year, we had a homemade dinner with 3 other couples and a lot of wine. This year we are doubling the size of the party, and I am very excited. Its going to be a lot of fun, and a mix of mostly married couples and 2 engaged couples (including us). Its the saturday after valentines day.
As for other plans, we arent sure. I have to babysit tomorrow night, so we werent planning on doing anything this weekend and having our night friday. Now he has a school project he has to do for the first part of the evening, so our plans are up in the air. We are probably just going to make dinner and have a drink at his place, we eat out so much its more special anyways!

We're probably not going to do anything, but I may want us to cook a nice dinner. We live in the middle of no where and we're not going to drive anywhere. We usually exchange cute cards though!

FI and I usually do something for Valentine's Day when we're together, but this year we will be in different cities. I would have done a little care package for him but I completely forgot and now it's right around the corner.

I guess my answer is that I don't really care/don't get upset by missing Valentine's Day, but if we're in the same town we would have a nice dinner together or something. No gifts though.

I'm one of those girls who totally agrees with her boyfriend that v-day is a crappy, commercial thing and that there's no reason to do something special. Unhuh. Boy, I'd be so happy if Fi surprised me with something corny like chocolate or flowers. But that's so not going to happen.

We take Vday very lightly. So far we don't really do gifts or anything like that. Last year we ended up going to this really delicious wings place and really it was the best Valentine's ever. Since it was practically empty, the owners gave us a free cocktail each and free dessert. We did what we felt like doing and had lots of fun.

This year we'll be out of town and at my mom's house soooo... not sure we'll be able to do much haha!

girl. i completely understand. I have roommates at my apt at school, he has roommates at his apt, or I am at my parents house. that doesnt leave a lot of alone time. it sucks. <div>His roommates are also a couple though (the girl just moved in after they got engaged) and they tend to go to bed rather early, so I think we are hoping for that on vday. </div>

I'm a freak for Valentine's Day - I love love love it. I'm going shopping this weekend to buy all the stuff I need to bake up some awesome treats from the latest issue of Taste of Home.  I even decorated for Valentine's Day - including a heart wreath on my door.

I love all Holidays - I think they add fun to our everyday lives - without having to do too much, yknow? So - I don't really understand the whole "commercialized garbage!" mentality. They're all commercialized - doesn't make them any less fun!

We probably won't celebrate it. I think V-day is more of a Hallmark holiday anyways. but I agree with you BELLS, if you love someone you should be showing it everyday not just the one day when everything is double the price =)

I told FI all I wanted was to see the Vow...but not on Valentine's day.  We'll probably see it this weekend.  We don't really celebrate it.  When we were long distance, FI used to send flowers, but he sent flowers a lot.

We don't do very much for Valentine's day. Usually we give each other cards, and he will probably give me a little box of chocolates. I've only been out on V day once in my life, with a high school boyfriend lol. Maybe this year we will get pizza! Probably have an assignment due the next day anyway.

We don't do gifts or anything, but we always exchange cards with little handwritten notes to mark the occasion. Its also an excuse to get some Valentine's Day dinner deals.

We aren't big on valentines either. We have curling this year on V-Day so we'll probably have a nice dinner b4 and then after curling i'm making a choclate fondue :) Growing up we would always have a choc fondue for v-day as a family. The following weekend we're going out for a nice dinner and seeing the vow but it's just a date night not a v-day thing.... oh and i think i'll get FI a 12 pack of his fave beer as a 'gift'... good thing about those is the prices dont rise for v-day hehe

I like having a reason to go out for a really nice dinner.  We usually save good places for birthdays and valentines day.  We are going to a new restaurant Saturday night and we will probably exchange something small on Tuesday.  I think I'll try and get out of work early to make it home for dinner at least on Tuesday.

We are going to dinner tomorrow night. We go out the weekend before usually because we don't want to go out and have to wait an hour or longer to eat.  We went out shopping tonight and FI got me a book and a new Ipod as my Valentine's present. (and a little cheer me up from the dress problem)
