July 2012 Weddings

July colors?

I know anything goes...I love purples, and love orange flowers so hoping to incorporate that in to the bouquets. When I look at swatches, the darker colors catch my eye the most. I probably will go with a chiffon fabric, v-neck style and tea-length. We're having an afternoon wedding, and guys will be in gray tux. Today I noticed "wisteria" for the 1st time, and now wondering if a lighter color would be more appropriate for a daytime, summer wedding. What colors are you fellow July brides going with?

Re: July colors?

  • Pink, orange, and watermelon colors! Each bridesmaid will be in an alternating color dress....all long and chiffon but I let them pick them out so they are all different. And then the guys in black tuxes with a matching tie to match the bridesmaid he's walking with.
  • We're doing eggplant purple and navy blue as the main colors but our decorations will be softer shades of blue and purple. I think that people can really do whatever colors they want at any time during the year now, people really personalize their weddings to suit their tastes.

  • I'm doing light purple and light and bright greens. I originally wanted darker, more jewel tone colors. I did decide to go with the lighter, more summery colors. I don't think you have to though. I just really liked the lighter purple bridesmaid dress color. After that the rest kind of fell into place.

  • We're doing turquoise, black, and ivory. I love the turquoise and it was FI's grandpa's favorite color. It's a way for us to kind of honor one of the people we love who has passed. I still need to think of something for my grandpa though.

  • We're doing a bright blue with black and silver. I had also wanted the darker jewel toned colours and changed my mind after gong dress shopping! I say go with the colours you want! It's your day so plan it your way!

  • We are doing a blush pink, soft white and black.  I think your colors sound lovely but I am picturing a light purple and orange and love it just a bit more than a darker purple with orange.  Go with whatever you like best.  I think it will be fine for a summery afternoon wedding.

  • We are Also doing navy blue and eggplant. We are incoperating dark real as well to switch things up
  • Ours is cornflower blue and white, my Fi and groomsman will be in black tux with matching blue ties. I'm still working on my flower colors
  • IWe ended up going with a light hydrangea blue as our main color, with light and dark purples and whites. My girls' dresses are hydrangea blue and short/cocktail length - love that for summer. Our flowers are mustly hydrangea and that's somewhat turned into the theme of the wedding - it's on our invitations, place cards, etc. Simple and summery. I love it!

  • platinum and shades of lavendar, with some ivory and black accenting. my bridesmaids will be in a silver dress and they will have purple and ivory bouquets.  some of our linens will be black to make the colors at our reception really "pop".

as others have said, really anything goes for july. i would just say to have your colors match the feel of your venue.  mine is in a formal ballroom so we want the feel to be regal and pretty.
  • Rosey pink, navy, and gray. I agree, anything goes!

  • Anything goes nowadays.

We're not doing traditional "summer" colors. Ours are blush pink, light peach, champagne, gold, ivory, etc. The girls are in champagne with black belts, boys in black tuxes (no colors), bouquets will be blush pink, light peaches, cafe au lait dahlias, ivories, with champagne ribbons.

so have you decided on the belts!! i personally love them.....
  • We are using turquoise and fushia.  Orginally we were going to do light pink and light purple, but we wanted something that wouldn't look washed out on the beach so we went with the brighter colors.
