WR Vent

I'm about to strangle my Etsy seller who made my rings! When I pay $1500 for something and an extra $20 for shipping, I expect it to be shipped better than plain USPS! She sent it as registered mail, not anything I can track. Supposedly, it shipped on the 17th. I haven't seen it, haven't gotten any messages, I don't know where it is, and I can't track it!

I seriously don't know what to do.

I've had many packages shipped here, including things that were very obviously expensive electronics. I've never had a problem. I can't believe this seller would ship it so carelessly.

Re: WR Vent

  • Wow that's really inconsiderate and poor business practice. I would leave a negative review
  • That truly sucks!  Hopefully USPS is just super slow and you'll get them tomorrow or the next day.  Ugh.

  • Did you get an actual notice that it had been sent?  Was there any "official" USPS information?

I really hate to say this, and not to scare you, but there are a LOT of Etsy sellers who are really just scam artists.  They advertise products for exhorbitant amounts of money, delay the actual shipping until you can't open a dispute with PayPal anymore, and you never get a product.

I really hope this hasn't happened to you, and maybe there's more info you can give us?  But it's the big reason why I'm really wary of Etsy, especially expensive purchases.

  • I hope it wasn't a scam! There were 40+ positive reviews going back a few years. The ring prices were, I felt, completely reasonable given that they were custom orders and gold prices are sky high right now.

I pay paypal through my AmEx, which I'm under the impression has a good chargeback policy, but it's good to know I only have 45 days to file a dispute. If they can't prove delivery confirmation, that protects me as item not received under paypal's TOS.

I sincerely hope there is just a mixup with USPS. The rings are beautiful, and I haven't seen any like them anywhere else.
  • FI had two packages that he was expecting and one finally got here, the other one is still in the mail. I wonder if USPS is backed up? I wouldn't worry yet. I do have to say that it was very stupid of the seller to not pay for a tracking number. When I sent an important package, it cost me 80 cents for a tracking number.

  • Have you mentioned anything to the seller yet?  At this point, I would bring something up to see what the story is.  If they are unresponsive, I would begin filing a dispute with PayPal.

This was what I aws going go suggest.
Try not to stress too much. I've had packages take at least 2 weeks to get to me if they were mailed "slow" enough.  But shiiit. $20 for shipping? for rings that weigh like nothing, that should have been easy to put it in a flat rate box with confirmation and insurance (with money still left over).  Even if it does eventually get to you, I'd write a review about that.
  • I feel like conformations cost less than a dollar, like 45 cents.  So that is ridiculous.  Even when you get the package I would complain.
