June 2012 Weddings

For fun!

I love seeing pics of brides colors and ideas, my question is: How did you decide on your colors/theme??

Re: For fun!

  • I always knew I wanted pink..its been my favorite color forever. Then I just tried some colors with it to see what would work best. I decided on navy because I loved how the dark pink popped against it.

  • Purple is my favorite color and Luckily FI likes it too.
We are getting married outside and the reception is outside.. the rustic theme seemed natural.
  • I have always loved fall and all the colors associated with it...but FI wanted to get married outside and fall can be fickle (weather, leaves changing - never predictible!) so we took fall colors (red, orange & yellow) and made them bright to fit with a summer theme. Plus, tiger lilies are my favorite flower (along with daisies - so we're using lots of gerbs) and they fit in perfectly!

  • My fave. flower is red roses. I knew that was the only flower i wanted for my wedding. I think they are so romantic and classic. I needed to find another color that would be a good compromise. My fiance hates red so he wouldn't let the bm or gm wear red so i had to find something plus our wedding is in the summer so i didn't want black. My FI's fave color is blue so i figured we would incorporate both of our fave colors. The colors are royal blue ( bm and gm are wearing that color) with accents of red ( only the flowers will be red). I love the combo but whenever anyone asks me what my colors are they look at me like those colors don't match or it would be patriotic. i can't wait to see everyones expression when they see how good the colors look together. Both summer and classic combined together.

  • FI comes from an old mob family in Chicago and they've been around forever; we decided to do a swinging 20s themed wedding with all the trimmings! Everyone is dressing as flappers, gangsters, molls, etc. with a real feel Hollywood glam. The ceremony is still very romantic and traditional - it's in the rose gardens of an old mansion in the outskirts of town.

We've outfitted the music, decor, food, everything from that era for the reception; granted people won't be wearing halloween costumes but it's still a really nice break away from the traditional. We learned the Charleston and quite a few of our guests swing dance so it turned out perfect!

  • hot pink is my favorite color so that was easy and luckily for me FI was totally ok with using pink. I knew I wanted my BM's to wear a hot pink sash and shoes like I will be so I just needed to find a color dress that would work with it... black it was and that became my second color.
  • I have a pink and blue and ivory and gray wedding.
It kind of started with buying ivory chair covers, then I wanted blue but couldn't find my shade of blue so I brought in the pink and blue, gray was added later when I decided that I didn't want black anywhere.

  • I knew I wanted sunflowers so we needed a color to compliment that bright yellow. We went with blue mainly because I had planned my first wedding (that thankfully I cancelled) with green so that was out. Blue also looked great on all the BM's so it just fell together perfectly.

  • Forgot to answer it when I posted it!

I orginally wanted a teal or turquoise color, something in the blue/green family since I wear this color all of the time and it's my favorite. But I fell in love with BM dress that didn't come in anything near this color and since my wedding is in the summer in South Florida I wanted something bright and summery so I went with a watermelon pink and am doing turquoise accents. People give me a funny look as well at this combo thinking it's going to be bright but we are doing subtle accents of the colors. My dress is an antique gold so that will tone it down a bit too.
  • Our colours are teal/aqua and white with splashes of pink. My favourites colours are teal/aqua and pink, so that was a given. I didn't want the wedding to end up being all pink, so I have my flowers and some of the decorations pink. My flowers are stargazer Lillies with 3 different pink tone carnations(mom's fav flower). Also, I love the beach so we are having shells and sanddollars, so teal/aqua fits perfect.
  • FI's favorite flowers are purple irises and mine are orange Aisatic lillies. So purple and orange it is, except FI doesn't like orange so I incorporated more black and silver with the purple, then pops of orange.

Purple is my absolute favorite color.  I have a ton of purple scrubs for work, purple cell phone cover, etc etc etc.  We chose clover green to compliment the purple, and clover green looks great on the guys.

  • Like Chelsea, I am also dark pink and navy (we're seriously the same person, down to our names).  My thought process was a little different.  Blue is FI's favorite color, pink is mine.  We found the shades that looked the best together.
  • I started out with apple red and black. I chose this combination because my FI and I tend to wear those colors alot. A some point my FI was worried the wedding might be too gothic looking with all the black and red so I incorporated peacock feathers into the wedding as well as purple, and turquoise blue. I adde the purple in by using lavender in my bouquets and aisle chairs along with moss and green herbs. I will also have purple dahlias in my bouquets with red ranunculus and champagne roses ( my wedding dress is champagne color). The hand fans for guests as well the paper lanterns (centerpieces) will be turquoise blue. I may sound like a ton of color but I think it will work nicely (hopefully)
  • Our colors are purple and blue. Purple is my favorite color and my Fi's is blue. At Hobby Lobby we came across these two feathers one in blue and one in purple. They have been our inspiration. And so ecited because I found feather pens that are the eact colors for people to use to sign our guestbook!

FI loves black and red. We went with his favorite colors.
  • I am also hot pink and navy!!  I knew I wanted blue in my wedding because when I think of brides and weddings I think of white and blue.  I wasn't finding any color combinations I liked for more than a day or two until I came upon the Perfect Palette website.  I just clicked around there for awhile and then when I saw that combo I knew it was perfect for us.  I love pink but I didn't want to subject FI to a pink wedding, however navy is the perfect color to tone it down and make it more elegant.

Also, like Chelsea, pink is my favorite color and blue is FI's!  Perfect!

  • I picked three bright, fun colors and had my bridesmaids figure out what they wanted.. They chose canary. :)

We're super outdoorsy and getting married on a farm, so the rustic theme was expected

  • My favorite color is purple and fi is brown. We decided to do lilac and brown. The lilac really pops against the brown. We tied it into our touch of travel through the wedding. We love to travel and have been to over 12 countries together.

  • Bright pink & yellow. I always knew I wanted a bright pink bouquet but didnt want to have a hot pink wedding (or put my wedding party in all pink-my sister has red hair and does not look good in fuschia). Yellow seemed like a perfect summer color to make my pink flowers and little accents pop :)

  • Green is both of our favorite colors and I've always loved how hot pink stands out and pops with shades of green.  I even have a pair of pink and green Converse that I bought long before meeting FI.  FI had no issues with the combination, so we ran with it.

  • We started out with liking three colors but couldn't choose between the three. We then added three more. We now have a rainbow colored wedding. Blue, pink, orange, purple, green, and yellow. It has been really tough making sure that we don't over do it with the colors since we have so many but I think we have done a pretty good job :)

  • I have navy/pink wedding too! Main color is navy and the accent is a dusty rose vintage pink and also ivory. My theme is burlap & lace, so it goes so well together! The GM are wearing khaki suits- I hate black and won't have any of it in my wedding.

  • I love pink and FI loves green and we both wanted an accent color of copper. It was actually the first wedding thing we decided on! Long lines at Disneyland helped that :

Navy blue and ivory, with touches of peach.  We both love blue and wanted to pick a shade that would be universally flattering to all the bridesmaids, and also complement the colors in our venue (which is a colonial inn).  Navy it was.... (although I flirted with dark teal - FI nixed that in a hot second).

  • We originally wanted a fall wedding and one of our color emerged from that. Chocolate brown. When we were deciding on a date and the kind of feel we were going for, I expressed that I wanted tons of candlelight at our reception (which would lean toward an evening wedding) Even though we ended up with June 2 as our date, we kept the brown and added a shimmery champagne color and then a variety of pinks as our accent color.
  • Dallas Cowboys colors and I am obsessed!
