First wedding nightmare

I had my first wedding nightmare last night. I woke up and jumped out of bed! I was shaking until I figured out it was just a dream and I hadn't completely screwed everything up!

In my dream, I had to cover a structure that was like two stories high in moss on one side by hand b/c for some reason it didn't naturally have moss. ...and apparently needed moss. The structure had nothing to do with the wedding except guest would walk by it and therefore see THERE WAS NO MOSS!!  Heaven forbid. Right?

Well so I spend all this time (in my freaking wedding dress) hand applying moss. Since I wouldn't be able to do that and set up the ceremony and reception the wedding party did it.

And they messed it up! The pews were in no order whatsoever. Pinwheels were everywhere and had been trampled. The cake was knocked over and our flowers were not handled with care and so they looked like a few cars had ran over them.

FI was so cute though. When I told him about the dream he said he would apply the moss so I wouldn't have to. Idk it was just sweet. :)

Have you guys had any wedding nightmares yet?

Re: First wedding nightmare

  • i have regular nightmares about my FMIL screaming at my mom and making a big scene not only at the rehersal dinner but at the reception too. I'm hoping this isn't a realtiy, it very well might be.

  • Nightmares are no fun!!

I am trying so hard to take everything in stride and not worry about the details in hopes of avoiding this.  So hard though!
  • unfortunately yes. And she screamed at my mom until my mom agreed to do things her way. Which explains why this entire process (pre wedding planner) was a nightmare

  • Icky!  MILs from hell are no fun.  Thankfully, I got rid of mine.

(That sounds terrible.. um, I divorced out of that MIL, I didn't kill her.)

    New FMIL is fantastic.
  • I get along with her perfectly fine, she loves me.  she just doesn't get along with my mother. Which is fine, they just have to tolerate eachother this one time.

  • Oh well that's way better!  Glad that she's great to you.  Too bad about the way they interact though!  Nervewracking.
  • They are NO fun, at all.  I had one where I arrived only to find out nobody had picked up my dress, at which point I yelled at my BMs before realizing I'd never gone dress shopping in the first place!

That is really sweet of your FI to offer to take care of it for you, even if it was just a nightmare!

  • I had a dream a while ago that my mother surprised me with a shotgun wedding in a baptist church and in the dream I'm like, "Mom! Why would EVER think that this is a good idea!? We're not even Baptist!" and my mom says, "Oh well, this church doesn't require you to be a member-so I thought it'd be nice!" IRL, my mom is Catholic and my dad's Jewish- so I grew up learning things from both religions, NO ONE in our families is Baptist :-P

It's incredibly strange because my mom is the complete opposite of a drama queen and would never pull a stunt like that. She doesn't overstep her boundaries and has told FI and I that we have the final say on things even though they're footing a good chunk of the bill.

  • I've only had one wedding related dream.  Everything was planned as we are currently thinking (in real life), but when I got there everything was completely different and not at all what I wanted.

I also think it's cute that your FI said he'd hang the moss.

  • I've only had one wedding nightmare - that I showed up to the reception and no one was there except my bridal party - and my BM took me aside and asked if I remembered to send out the invitations and I had forgot. This is typical of me - I write my Christmas cards at the beginning of November and always forget to mail them. I called her when I work up and made her promise that she would be on top of me and harass me about sending out the invites!

  • I recently had one that I was doing my own makeup like 30 seconds before walking down the aisle, so I was super shaky and my liquid eyeliner was coming out disastrous.  Then I realized my dress was see-through and I was wearing blue boy-short underwear that I bought to wear under a halloween costume 3 years ago.  My sister had to run up to my room (we were getting married at my house apparently) and get my crinoline from my junior prom dress so that my dress wouldn't be see through.  Ridiculous!  My dress is in no way see through in real life, it has so many layers of skirt!

I did decide that I need to hire a professional makeup artist for the day of though, which is good because I was going back and forth on it.

  • Michelle,

Good idea on hiring a makeup artist.  When I got married the first time, I really did FORGET to leave time for me to do my makeup in my day of schedule, so I was quite truly doing my makeup like 30 seconds before I had to be out to take pictures.  It was a NIGHTMARE (a real-life one!).
  • So glad to know I'm not the only one!

@LaurenNYC-That would give me nightmares too!

  • I've had several.

One where I was dressed and ready to go at the church and then I realized that my hair wasn't fixed. I told my mom and my 85 year old aunt who used to be a hairdresser ended up fixing it and charging us $14.

Another was right before FI and I pulled up at the reception and it was pouring down raining like a hurricane.

In another one, apparently I had let my mom plan my whole wedding. The reception was in the church hall of my best friend and MOH's childhood church. Everything was very sparse and I couldn't figure out why. In the middle of the reception I asked my mom where all the money had gone and she told me she spend $30,000 on uplighting so she didn't have any money left for anything else! This is ironic considering I get uplighting free at my reception venue!

I was going to start a new post for this, but i'm glad I found it!

I had a HORRIBLE wedding nightmare last night...Nothing was planned, and it was thrown together (No reception, dj or photog, no bridesmaids, No flowers, no cake, no invites) Although, we have a venue, and the wedding was in a hallway at my house.) I went out back to get my pictures taken, by my mom on a disposable camera. My dress looked horrible on me, and my mom told me my bouquet could be dandelions she picked from the backyard. It was NOT the wedding of my dreams, so to speak. Fiance was cute though :) lol

Im glad im not the only one having these so far out...I think I am having them about once a week....ugh! I cant do this for another 14 months!
