Wedding Make up...

Ok, so related to a post below.... I was thinking about all the crying I might be doing on my wedding day, and was wondering if any of you have any suggestions for water proof mascara? I think I'll go lurk on some other boards about the topic too, but wanted to know what your preference is... I don't wear any makeup... so I have no clue...

Thanks ladies!

Also, what kinda of makeup do you all wear? like? recomend? :-)

Re: Wedding Make up...

  • I never wore make up until after I graduated from college and one of my best friends from college (and a BM) became a Mary Kay consultant. I let her use my face to get the number of faces she needed and I'm hooked. I actually enjoy wearing make-up and Mary Kay is pretty much all I use. I pick up some different eyeshadows from the store from time to time but mostly it's Mary Kay.

For the wedding I plan on using Mary Kay and having her do my make-up as well. After this certain BM became a cosultant so did my cousin (who is one of my MOH)s.

  • To be honest, I avoid recommending makeup because I know so little.  I'm kind of dying to see what everyone recommends for waterproof mascara, though!

Currently, I use Maybelline Lash Stilletto, which looks fabulous.  However the problem I always have with waterproof mascaras is that they're not really waterproof, and wind up smearing just a little under my eyes, especially if I'm crying!

  • I've always worn waterproof mascara, since I have contacts and if I have a problem in the middle of the day I don't want to resemble a raccoon.  I recommend Covergirl Lashblast Fusion, its a combo of their volumizer and lengthener and I don't think my lashes have ever looked better!  I also like Maybelline Great Lash, but I really only use it when I can't find my shade in the Covergirl product.

I have to slip in here a recommendation for the eyeliner I use.  Its waterproof/smudgeproof, and I've literally been using it since I was like 13, and my mom's been using it longer than that.  It's Revlon Color Stay, and its one of the ones that you twist it up and it has a little sharpener on the end of the stick.  It isn't really a pencil, but its just amazing and my eyes love it.  When I go out I also use the same line's liquid eyeliner, love love love.  Super easy to use and stays put all night and into the next day (if I do a bad job of taking it off at night).

  • I like Dior DiorShow Waterproof and Dior DiorShow Black Out Waterproof (from Sephora). I used to work at a day camp where we were required to swim daily and these mascaras did not run/smudge even if I went under water. For the wedding I will be having my makeup professionally done.

This! Or another really good one is Lancome Hypnose Drama. They are very similar.

I'm probably getting eyelash extensions for the wedding though. I don't want to hassle with runny make-up that day and on my HM we will probably be in/around water alot since we are going to Fiji and it will be the least hassle.
