Bridal Meltdown

I can feel a total bridal meltdown coming on. I'm just having one of those days where NOTHING is going right.

My wedding salon charges $595 flat for alterations (highway robbery, right?!) so I called a really, really highly recommended alterations place and her estimate was $500-600. Apparently that just how much alterations are going to cost here :(

Next weekend FI and I are going to PA to do some wedding appointments (mostly cake tastings) and my favorite place only delivers in a 5 miles radius. 5 MILES?! Are you kidding me? The farms in the area are 5 miles from one end to the other! So they are out. And my wedding planner never responded to my emails about next weekend and has left for vacation, so I'm apparently on my own. Oh and I only know she is on vacation because i googled her, and her Facebook account isn't private, so I could see her update about heading to Florida. Way to let your clients know.

The officiant that was recommended to me has not replied to any of my emails for two weeks, so he's out of the picture. And I only have an email for him, no phone #.

FI is supposed to be designing our invites and has apparently gotten NO WHERE and every time I think he is working on them, he is doing something stupid like trying to set up a Goodreads account and managing his iTunes playlists.

I just feel really frustrated right now, like nothing is happening. This is supposed to be "fun" right?

Re: Bridal Meltdown

  • I definitely think the bridal meltdowns/breakdowns are normal. We're getting so close and we're feeling all the pressure. I had one last week and just sobbed. Sometimes you just need a good cry...even if you aren't normally a crier. It just feels good to let it all out. We can't be calm and rational ALL the time.
  • I agree with Kelsey about the good cry. I don't know why, but they help so much sometimes.

Is there anyone else who can help you with the planning? I would have a heart to heart with your FI and explain to him how you are feeling. Chances are, once you lay everything out on the line he will step up to the plate.

Do you have a David's Bridal out there? I know they do charge but not that much. I would check them out if possible. It could save you some money. I know that the alterations for my dress shouldn't cost more than $200. Especially since the dress fits me now and with my heels the length is fine. It looks like all I will need is the bustle. Unless I get to my goal size by the wedding date. My dress is a size 14 and I am between a size 14-12... So we will see

  • I understand completely. I'm getting married in Pensacola Fl and I have had the hardest time getting vendors to call me back. Here I am trying to give people money and they don't wanted. It started with photographers and bakers, and now I'm trying to get a block of hotel rooms since most of our guests are out of town and she won't call me back. I still haven't heard from a minister at my church to officiate. I'm at a loss. Luckily, my FI is designing our invitaions and has done a great job with them.
  • Yep I had a meltdown two weeks ago at work over the fellas attire with men wearhouse and then again today I had to go in with my FI !
