I GOT MY DRESS AND BRIDESMAID DRESSES! =) =)

So we went to Stylish Impressions in Farmington, CT yesterday and had an appointment with Olivia - she was FANTASTIC, any ladies that need dresses (bridal, BM, mothers, whatever - go see them! I'm in love lol). I brought my book that has some dresses I pulled out of magazines and they had several of the dresses form different designers (Alfred Angelo, Casbalanca, Allure, and many others). They also have all the dresses right out in the open, so were we able to look through and anything that myself, my mom or BMs saw we could pull for me to try on. Once we got a good selection going we started trying and she had me step into dresses and would zip me in and clip them. I'm a bigger girl (size 14) and I had no problem being able to actually fit into dresses which was nice.
We narrowed it down to finally 2 dresses and we kept going back and forth and she dressed them up with veil and jewelry and said to go to lunch and come back and make another appointment if needed.
We then went to Alfred Angelo in Manchester, CT - HOT MESS. DON'T GO. The consultants have no idea what they are doing. They originally wanted to combine the 2 separate bridesmaid and bridal appointments I made into the same time slot so we couldn't see what each other was trying on. They also use metal clips and cinch the dresses under my arms as opposed to the back and the consultant pinched me with them. She was more excited about my wedding book than anything else. The bridesmaid trying on was a disaster as well. We called Stylish Impressions and they had the one dress that we kind of liked at Alfred Angelo and so we went back. We also walked into David's in Manchester and checked out about 3 dresses and walked out...not before my cousin tried on a fabulous Jersey Shore style Leopard Print short number!
We were able to get the same consultant at Stylish Impressions, Olivia. She was fantastic. My cousin pulled some of the more crazy prom dress styles that they have just to be ridiculous, and our consultant had a blast having her try them on and letting us take some silly pictures. We tried on a variety of bridesmaid dresses and selected a BEAUTIFUL Jim Hjelm dress in a dark blue - the color is called ink, I love it and so do my girls. Clicky!
I then got back into the two dresses that I was going back and forth between.  After dressing up the dresses again and having some time out them I made my decision. I chose an Allure gown and I can't wait for it to be here! Clicky for me!
So two HUGE checks done and I'm super excited =)

  • I forgot the best part! My cousin flew in from Austin to surprise me! She got in late in the morning so I was already asleep when she got in. She woke me up in the morning and was able to join in the dress shopping fun =)
  • Hooray!  Sounds like you had a great crew with you, too!

  • Your dress is stunning! I love the bridesmaids dress, but how does a bra work in that dress? (I am very large in the chest so I always think about that!)

<div>We chose a dress with a higher neckline because 3 out 4 of my girls have larger chests. I'm not sure if they will have to get a strapless because of the cut of the back/shoulders, but we will definitely figure it out.</div>
  • Your dress is gorgeous!  I also really like the BM dress; definitely something your girls will wear again.

  • your dress is stunning!!  and i love the neckline and cut of the BM's dresses, i have been thinking about something similar!  victoria's secret has a of different bras called multiways (they convert to lots of different styles) and you may be able to go with a racerback or halter configuration.  the semi-annual sale is coming up in june of you have one near you and they may be able to get some great deals-15-25 for most bras at the sale.  it's my PT job.
