Color Change

I always said i would never do this. I am not the indecisive one, my FI is, once i make up my mind i DO NOT change it, while that has been the case for most things i have been very back and forth on some things. Once of these was NOT colors, i was sure i would stick with my 2 fav colors, blue & purple. I have to stay with navy because my dress is navy (otherwise i would have went with royal blue) but i have now decided to go with Fuscia instead of purple.

I hate pink so i never wanted it but....... i want the WOW factor when people step in my hall, the purple as a runner & sash will give a soft romantic tone on black table cloth & white chair covers. With fuscia i can go with all black table clothes & chair covers & not have to have white at all & it will pop out. Mind is changed (shakes head lol) now i am pretty positive it will not change again as i have a look in my head and nothing less will do.

What about you? have you changed your mind at all about colors?

Re: Color Change

  • I have to agree with you - I can't stand fuschia on its own, but as a wedding color against black, I LOVE it.  If it wasn't SO far out of character for me, I think I probably would have gone for something as striking as that!  Great choice :)

I have changed my own colors, but only a little.  When we first started, I thought I wanted to go with a pale purple and pale yellow for our colors, but then I started leaning towards a darker shade of purple as my main color, with varying shades of purple and gold accents.  I like my second palette much better, I'm not tied into any one shade of purple for anything - and plum and gold just seem very royal to me :)  Plus, gold ALWAYS reminds me of my late grandmother, and the nod to her is very important to me.

  • Those colors sound lovely, a lot of people are doing shades these days so they don't have to be "stuck". The fact it has meaning for you will make it all the better.

I have been tempted to change my colors but I've stuck with blue and sunflower yellow. When it seemed possible that we could have the reception at Great American Ballpark (home of the Reds, our most favorite sports team), my Mom suggested changing the blue to red, making the colors red and yellow. I was pretty tempted but we found out that would be too expensive and I like my blue and yellow better.

We'll still have Reds things involved such as my garter and some husband/wife "baseball cards" FI plans on making as part of the favors.

EDIT: I think choosing fuschia as the color is a great idea. It will really pop!
  • I don't think I'm girly at all and I grew up hating all things pink.  Now I do like pink and our colors are fuschia and shades of green.  So there I am hoping on the "shades" bandwagon.  I really like the idea though, especially since I'm hoping my BMs will all pick a different shade of green for their dresses.  Navy and Fuschia are beautiful together and you will definitely get that POP!

DrPB: My undergrad colors were purple and gold and if FI had gone to the same school as me, those totally would have been our wedding colors.  Instead he went to school across the street (literally) from me and their colors were blue and yellow.

My high school colors were purple and gold...which is the reason I'm using blue even though purple is my favorite color. I had a lot of school spirt when I was in high school but I really did not want a wedding color scheme of that of my high school! My BF MOH was actually worried about it too.
  • I've actually been thinking about my color scheme a lot lately. My fav color is bright pink (i know SO original), so i've always known pink would be my wedding color. I thought a lot about accent colors and decided that since the pink i like is such a bold bright color that I would just do pink and white. That way it will look really clean and classic. But i've been getting a lot of pressure from friends and fam to add another color. Then i looked at pics from a friends wedding that had tiffany blue dresses and pink flowers and it was really pretty. But i'm pretty sure i still just want pink and white. I'm worried that it could turn into a pink disaster with pink everywhere, but i wouldn't want it to be boring with just one color either.

I think fuschia and black will definitely give you the pop you're looking for! Fuschia will brighten up the darkness of the black and it should give your reception site a fun vibe.

  • I love the idea of fuscia and black for wedding colors, and I am not the world's biggest fan of pink but I think those two go so great together!  I haven't swayed on my color theme just added to it :)  We decided to really go with more of a caribbean and beach feel and instead of just the blue and green caribbean colors we'll add in punches of the other caribbean colors (pinkish, orangish).  Not sure what it will look like quite yet but any suggestions are appreciated!
  • I've changed mine already but I finally bought something in our new color which should help us not change it again. We went from Royal blue and bright yellow to turquoise and yellow. I'm loving the new colors better. I think the Fuschia will look beautiful on black.
  • I'm a little confused, did you keep the navy because of your dress or change to black because of the fuschia?  My colors are navy and fuschia and I really love them.  I changed the colors I thought I wanted so many times until I came across this combo and I'm so happy I did because I'm obsessed with it.  Fuschia and black also look great together; I think its a really classic and feminine combo.

<div>Navy is still my main color but i do NOT want white table cloths and be like every other decorated wedding in our families. I wanted black table cloths but navy is too dark on black so i needed something lighter, was originally going to have lavender but it did not have the look i went for so fuscia it will be. Black will not be one of my colors, it will be what makes the fuscia stand out. Navy & fuscia will be reflected in everything (dresses, flowers etc) </div><div>
</div><div>Sounds like people have some nice colors. I love the look of blue & yellow, i even said that when i was looking at colors to go with the navy, but i am less of a yellow person even more than i am pink so that would be wayyyyyyyy out of my league lol</div>

  • Our colors are lime green and yellow, which are very us.  I have always loved bright colors and I think slowly over the years my FI has come to appreciate them too!  We haven't really changed them, although I'm thinking of adding some aqua in there too, just in the centerpieces.

Fucscia and navy sounds nice.  I'm not big on pink either, but if you like it that's all that matters.

  • We were originally going with lime green and baby pink.  I'm not a pink gilr either but thought it looked nice with my favorite colour.  I was at a wedding show and saw a lime green/lavender combo and loved it.  I kept seeing lavender all day and knew I wanted to change.

I love fushia and navy, btw and I think it will look amazing!

  • i think your fuschia will go great with your navy and definitely pop off your black table cloths.  as long as you love it, that's what matters.  we're still deciding on ours.
