Final fittings- How close to wedding day?

How close to wedding day are you able to have you final fittings?  Davids Bridal has me picking up four days before I leave for the wedding.  Is this too close?  I may be panicked prematurely, but it seems too close for comfort!!!

I just had my first fitting this past Saturday and have another one scheduled for May 19th. After that there will be one more. And my streamstress recommended to pick up my dress no more than 2 days before.

I think that's close. My final fitting is May14th and my wedding date is June 2nd. Just in case anything else needs to be done there is still time to do it. However, I'm using a seamstress that works out of her home so timing good be a little different.

Mine is May 13th but it was originally set for April 15th(I missed this appointment) for my final fitting but I'm just doing a bustle and shortening the halter strap going around my neck. My wedding is June 9th. They say it will take about 2 weeks. Cutting it close for me but they are really booked and this was the soonest we could do it since I missed my first appt.

My final fitting is May 7 and the wedding is June 9. I'm not sure if I get to take it home on May 7 or not.

Is that the final fitting or when it gets steamed and cleaned for the last time? I am picking my dress up from its final cleaning and steaming 3 days before the wedding.

I just had my first fitting over the weekend and dont even have my next fittings scheduled yet. I want my dress to fit perfect, so I figured the closer to the wedding the better. My seamstress is local and she will be delivering my dress to my parents house a day or 2 before the wedding.

I don't have my final fitting schedule yet, but it has to be at least a week before the wedding, because my salon is in NYC but I'm leaving for PA 6 days before the wedding. I think 4 days before you leave is fine. If there are any last minute changes that need to be made after the final fitting, they can usually turn it around in 24 hours.

<div>It's the final fitting, then I take it from FL to PA and they will steam and clean it the week of the wedding.</div>

I am picking mine up on June 2nd. 24 days before the wedding. That way, I can try it on again and make sure it fits in plenty of time.

I had my final fitting on Saturday and brought my dress home. My seamstress was a woman who does the work out of her home, so I'm sure she appreciates not having to store my dress for the next 2 months. She steamed it prior to me trying it on for the final time to see the changes she made to it. I've noticed I've been losing a bit of weight recently, so I'll likely try it on once more a couple of weeks (3 weeks most likely) before the wedding to give my mom  a chance to practice tying the corset and to also make sure everything still fits like a glove. I think even if I lost up to 10-15 lbs, it would still be fine because of the corset back.

I have my first fitting May 16, 2nd fitting May 23 and then they will decide if I need a 3rd one after that.  My parents are taking my dress when they leave for Maui on June 7 (wedding is June 20)

Thanks ladies!  I called & told a fib (oops!) so that they will have my dress ready two weeks in advance rather than 4 days!

You know, sometimes I just need confirmation that I'm not crazy for thinking a certain way.  And that is why I love these boards.

My final fitting is today! My mom is in town for it--so excited!

Katie - What time is your next appt on the 19th? Mine is at 12 noon. This time she booked me for 1-1/2 hrs. LOL. I'm just glad we didn't run too late on you guys.

My wedding is June 30th and June 9th I have my second fitting because I'm losing weight from the stress.  I'll try it on one last time & pick it up on the 23rd, one week before.

Bein an OOT bride makes this a little scary for me. My final fitting is the Wednesday before our Saturday wedding. We are supposed to be able to pick it up 2 days later on that Friday.
