Ring in the shop!

Hi everyone,

Long-time lurker on this board.  I'm a June 9 bride and wanted to introduce myself.   I'm 31, live in St Louis and have been engaged a little over a year.  My FI and I are very excited to be married. 
Quick question that I wanted some input on.   I brought my e-ring into the shop today to have a ring guard/bridge placed on it.  It's top heavy and has been spinning for way too long.  I have not been without my e-ring since I got it and feel naked  Do you think it's bad pre-wedding karma to wear my wedding band in its place until I get it back?  It will be a bit over 2 weeks until I see it again since I'm traveling for work starting Friday.

I understand feeling weird without it, but I wouldn't wear your wedding band. I don't believe in bad luck or karma or anything, I just don't think you should wear something if you haven't "earned" it yet. Like going by "Dr." when you haven't finished school yet. 

Or calling yourself a manager when you are really an assistant.

I agree. I think you should not wear the wedding band. I would just deal with the "naked" feeling for a little while.

I agree something just doesn't feel right about sporting the band right now.  Good to see others think similarly. 

Kimi, I do have other rings I could wear ~ just not something sparkly.

I went on a trip recently and didn't feel comfortable bringing my e-ring, so I went to Target and got a cheapo cubic zirconia band to wear in its place.  It worked out really well, and I actually got tons of compliments on the band!  It stopped my half-second panics when I would suddenly realize my ring was gone, haha.

I just got my ring out of the shop. I wore another ring on that finger or I would have felt naked. I got my engagement ring and wedding ring sodered together. My wedding band is just a thin plain band, nothing fancy and I wanted it done before I was married so I wouldnt be without them for a week after. I dont feel wrong wearing both now because I have *earned* them. LOL We have been together 4 years, lived together 2 years and as of tomorrow have been engaged 1 year.

I agree with getting a cheap ring. I'm going to do that when my rings will be soddened (did I sp that right?) together.

I'm not sure if this might suit your fancy, but JVL (a jewlery place online, google it!) has plain bands you can buy and this code (229570) will give you a band for FREE. I don't know why/how they do it, but that might be an option if you didn't want to wear yours!! 

I'm getting mine soldered together soon and I'm going to wear my grandma's wedding ring. I'm wearing it on my right hand the day of the wedding.

Welcome!  I am also a June 9 bride and I took my rings in to get soldered last month and just got them back today.  I have been and will continue wearing a stand in ring, simply because I am not married and don't want to wear my actual wedding band yet.  I would see about wearing a stand in!
