Postage cost extra for pockets??

So I took my invitations to the post office to be weighed and we found out we just need the  65 cent stamp.  But then, the post office worker was like...hmm. This feels a little stiff. We charge an additional 20 cents for "rigid-ness".  What!  Has anyone else heard this?  I'm sending 2 practice ones out to my aunts just to see if we can get away with just teh 65 cents.

I always thought it was just by the weight since its not an "odd shape".

Rigidness? Fo shizzle?! I would try another post office. I swear every postal worker I go to is different.

Rigid envelopes are not machine sortable, hence the extra charge. Though every postal worker's definition of rigid is different, maybe a different location will not charge extra.

Wow.. weird.
I took our exact invite in with everything in it and the same envelope and said... ok how much is this gonna cost me. 65 cents because it is a weird shape

When I took my sample to the post office the lady just said the .65 cents. She said nothing about the stiffness of the invite. Of course it is going to be stiff with all the stuff inside of it. I never heard of such a thing. Definitly send out the trial ones and see what happens. Keep us posted.

Well the 2 I sent out both made it with just the 65 cent stamp!  I'm a little worried about shoving 130 invites into the box at once...maybe the postman won't be as generous....but I'm definitely going to give it a try!

I have never heard of that either.  I just thought it went by weight... weird.  I guess I need to take a mock-up to the post office and check.
