DJ Question

I'm somewhat new to the boards but am learning so much from the posts!  I've just started the process of looking for DJs - and i'm wondering if you guys have any recommendations, and also - i was wondering how you guys chose your DJs?  Did you meet them in person?  What are things i should be looking for?  Thanks!

the two popular dj's (i think) on this board are jeff hill and sean denard. i chose jeff hill because he was less expensive and also has had more positive reviews at the time of booking. early this year sean got some very negative reviews, but more recently, they've been better. i haven't seen any negative of jeff, i don't think.

mine was recommended by my photographer - she'd just gone to a wedding he dj'd and I called him, met him, loved him and booked him. He's very sarcastic and funny. Not cheesy but light which I liked. He also asks to "run the show" and keep things moving. Which I was happy to have him do. I'll post a review after Sunday! Tiger Budbill - and I keep running into people who know him - what a small small world! He used to be the Mariner Moose!!

I chose Brian Waltz (Good Times DJ) - he was fabulous!!!   He gave us two sound systems (one for inside and one for outside), had the best sound equipment, and also provided lights.  He stayed for however long we wanted him to.   He read the crowd and was an awesome MC.  Not cheesy - very professional but also fun.   We got a lot of compliments on him.  http://www.goodtimesonline.tv/I would check him out.  I did a lot of research and can say that I am so happy that I picked him.  If you talk to him, you can also ask him for references and meet with him.   We talked with him several times.  Oh, he also provided our ceremony and toasts on a file - so we could listen to them afterwards which was fun.

Mine I was also recommended through my photographer and another DJ. I originally talked to Brian (Good Times DJ) and he was already booked for my date (12 months out!). I found that it was difficult to get DJs to meet me in person. I just talked to him over the phone for a long time. I would just look for someone that fits into your style and what you are looking for on the big day. My DJ is Chris Graves from Your Song DJ.

Thanks for all of the suggestions!  It's going to be hard to choose - it soundsl like there are quite a few good ones out there!
