Groomsmen attire dilemma (PIP)

My poor FI and I have been battling it out the past few days. I think I am being bridezilla and I'm pretty sure I know what I need to do....however I would still like outside opinions. Colors are yellow and grey. Girls are in charcoal dresses popping yellow in their bouquets and shoes. FI wants groomsmen in yellow (not canary) vests and bowties. I would prefer all grey and just yellow neckties. He's not too happy with me.

This is what he wants. Does it look bad? Please be honest.

He is willing to wear this but wants the groomsmen to remain in outfit above. Some of the girls on facebook suggested maybe groomsmen wear this and let him wear outfit above.

This is what I want but he doesn't want the neckties at all.

I was just about to say I am not a fan of bow ties and think it really only looks good on some people who can carry it off. I like the second bow tie option better. Would fiance be willing to wear a gray bow tie and have the guys wear the second option. Am I making sense?

His only request is that he wear yellow in some way. So it's a no go for him.

  • Cha's colors are grey and yellow too. I wonder what she's doing? I think that yellow vest with the LIGHT grey suit is too much. maybe if it were a darker grey it'd tone it down? but i do like the neck tie better. maybe just fiance could do the yellow bowtie (no yellow vest) if he really really wants it?

<div>Well in that case leave it as is. The fact that the girls aren't wearing yellow I think will tone things done. </div>

  • I absolutely LOVE bowties! I used to hate them but I love them now lol. I also LOVE the 1st look lol. Im definitely w/ FI on this one. I like option one for the groomsmen & 2 for him. At 1st glance I wanted it swapped but I think I like the 2nd one better for the groom. Ultimately, he does have to be the one to wear it & since we get to be the one to pick our dress maybe he should be the one to pick the tux he likes :) lol Please dont hate me hahahaha!

  • I don't think what he wants looks bad. He can wear that and the GM's can wear one of the other options. Be nice Tracey!

  • I'm part of team not a fan of bow ties.... So with that being said I think option 3 is very nice I really like it. If he insists on a bowtie I would say Option 2. I also asked FI to get a male's opinion he said Option 2 as well and he is all for the bow tie.

I don't like the full yellow....the gray and yellow ties and pocket square is a nice pop.

    1. Could the groomsmen wear the yellow neckties?
    2. Could you find him a Yellow SELF TIED bow tie???? The bow ties that come with the tuxes are crappy and TOO little they look retarded. FI is wearing a black self tied bow tie and it is HAUTE!

My suggestions would have the GM wear the last out fit and have him wear the 2nd one with a Selftied yellow bow tie.

There is a site (and store here) called Fat Knots. Look on there and see what you find.

  • Ok..I had to think about this for a min..I think since FI wants the yellow let him wear option 2 and the GMs wear option 1. With the BMs and GMs walking together they will complimant each other and then the yellow wont look so out there. I will say I like option 2 the most tho if that helps any !

Ok I will look into self tie bow ties. In person this look wasn't bad. My cousin's prom date also wore this exact thing and I thought he looked really nice. But that was prom where everyone is loud and colorful! Ultimately I know I'm being unfair and I can't just disregard his every request. I just dont want it to look like a bunch of clowns :

You promise they won't Morg? Its at 5p.

Can you have him talk to my FI. I don't like color on guys.

  • I really don't like colors and that's why I couldn't pick wedding colors and that's how we ended up with these colors. I let him pick. I should've done black and white. I think I'm having pre wedding jitters or something!
    imageAnniversary
  • LOL! I promise they won't! But my pick is to have the all gray with yellow pops. Sure he can. But it may back fire with your FI knowing he's trying to be convinced otherwise....

  • I think because most men do not get much of an opionion that he should wear what he wants in regard to the yellow picture #1.
  • I have started really liking BOWTIES.. and I agree with some of the other ladies.. I LOVE option #1.. and then #2 for your FI... With the ladies dresses, it will compliment very well. As liong as the yellow is the exact same...

I Love the "POP' of color

I like them all..Have you thought about doing a dress rehearsal so you both can see which works better, whats the right color yellow or if a lighter or darker will blend well and keep the look your going for.....just a suggestion...HTH

ETA: have you thought of using a patterned bowtie of vest???
  • Thanks ladies! I shared with him all of the suggestions that were made and different combos. But i told him this is his decision, I had no right to take It from him, and whatever he decides will be alright with me.
