DIY Invites...

Hello Ladies,I'm trying to decide if I should attempt to make my invitations myself or pay a company to do them for me. My wedding is in 3 months and I want to send the invites out the end of Sept with a RSVP of beginning of Nov.   With the date fast approaching do you think its a good idea or just pay someone?I want to do the layered look not the pocketfolds. I have to send out 130-135 invites.Thanks,Clross01

I am considering DIY invites as well but with ur time frame I would be weary. I have read all these other posts about making them and they make it seem so long and tedious. IDK but considering that you want the stacked look and not pockets that makes it easier. I would go for it especially if you have help. I read that enevelope mall is cheaper than paper and cards for the cardstock. For me the hardest part is deciding on the design. GL! HTH!

I started making my DIY invites last month and they are all ready to go, my only hold up is addresses. I did start way far in advance and ended up changing my mind, wasted lots of time and money. That being said, if you know how you want your invites to look then go for it.

We did DIY invites. I'll try and remeber to post a picture. We went and looked at stores that sell invites and copied down some ideas that we liked. It took us a full weekend to put them together. If you want to do it definitely can be done in your time frame.

I did my own invites (not pocketfold but yet the layered look as you are wanting) and they came out great!!!!!.....HOWEVER, I started working on them many months before so that I could have time to figured out what I wanted and to allow room for error because I was not a powerpoint or publisher guru at all. I had to get help with what I didnt understand. If you know the in and outs of power point and publisher, I say go for it, but if you dont...PAY SOMEONE. You only have 3 months and honestly thats not enough time if you dont understand the process but I say try and go for it. I can email you pictures of mine so you can see what I did I mean I surprized myself.I order my folded cards and envelopes from www.envelopeme(dot)com. , I got my card stock and vellum from a local paper store and I printed everything at work (chile to say money on the color printing)...I went to kinko's and had them cut the invites and from there I put them together. my cost for stamps was.59 per invite so they were pretty heavy. (my bio is jacked up still working on it)

Go for it! Do you have a design? that's the biggest part...  after that... assembly is easy.. I think you can do it. Tips:If you want to really save money make a 4 X 9 invite. postage will be .44.Dont buy expensive adhesive... double sided tape works wonders.Have your backing cards pre cut by www.anchorpaper.com. tom is really nice to work with.Print your actual invite in black if you can.. if you can't try to use that good ole' work printer.Pace your self... do 25- 30 a day. you will get tired! If you need help email me cydickerson@gmail.com.

@Spim7, Marriedsaywhat??Please email a picture of your invites. My email address is clross01@gmail.com@BrownieBride09,I am going to email you for some inspiration and answers. I am at a loss right. I think its because I feel I'm running out of time. Thanks everyone for your responses. BTW, I went to cards and pockets website and found some pocketfolds (this was not my 1st idea) anyway, I figured I could buy them in a nice color and the invite could really be simple. Print the Invite, RSVP, and Gift Registry info on some nice metaillic paper. (Throwing out ideas)
