AW: sucessful dress shopping!

I went to the Wedding Bell yesterday with mom. It was such a great experience compared to my previous trips to other stores. Jessie was extremely nice and helpful. She understood when I said I didn’t like something and only pulled dresses that she though I would like! The store was kind slow, so all the ladies were pulling dresses (especially ones I wouldn’t like) and she would weed them out for me! It was great. There were a lot of really great dresses that I found but here are the two really good candidates: *Notes: I am wanting to (but understand if I can’t) find THE DRESS for less than $1000 after alterations. I just would rather spend the money somewhere else in the wedding, ie: photobooth. I do not like ball gowns or lots of bedazzling and what not. I’m kind of a sassy plain jane… Dress numero uno + I love the top – twisted straps with just a little bedazzling. The deep v accentuates the girls. + (in my slze) I will have a defined waste causing a slimmer look + I felt very comfortable, even sitting + Great fabric + Price is extremely reasonable and exactly what I was looking for ($350!!) -/+ Not a very long train/can add another yard of fabric for additional fee ($175) - the flow of the skirt was not as pretty as #2. - the rooshing (kind of hard to see in the pic) is very thick thus would need a thick sash (I really want a colored sash) or something of the sort. Dress numero dos + I LOVED the flow of skirt. It was very flattering and felt more elegant than the first + I liked the contrast in fabric – lace and chiffon + The sash looked great on the dress + Has a pretty decent train already, no additional fabric needed + This dress over all felt more like a wedding dress - I always have felt uncomfortable in strapless dresses, like I need to keep pulling it up, even if I don’t. - Adding straps to this dress would be difficult ask due to the material - - (any suggestions here would be helpful!!) - The price is higher (almost $1000), and will require a lot more alterations to make me comfortable in the strapless department I am torn. I LOVE the top of the first and the flow of the skirt of the second one. Opinions?

Here is the first one, that didn't post for some reason. Also, I apologize for the ginormous size...how do I make them small for the future?

I think you should keep looking. It shouldn't be that hard to find a dress with the top of the first one and the skirt of the second one. Don't settle! Under $1000 isn't impossible by any sretch of the imagination, so don't feel like you need to rush it :)

I agree with PP that you shouldn't settle. That being said it wouldn't be that hard to add straps to the second one. There are several options for you on that. You could add a halter strap or spaghetti straps, or even a nice lace or chiffon strap. But whatever you do don't settle!

Thanks for the advice. I don't plan on settling. I did that with my prom dress in high school and I did NOT feel pretty the whole night! BUT even more good news about the Wedding Bell, the owner just sent me an email showing me a few more dresses that they don't have in stock but might be closer to what I am looking for over all! She also said that she is going to contact the designers and see if they would be willing to make the changes I am looking for! I have nothing but good feelings for this store. This is exactly what I felt shopping for a wedding dress should feel like. <3

:) I think you should keep looking and keep them as you said, candidates. Find something you totally feel comfortable in. I don't know how many shops you've been to - I really liked All That Shimmers. Alas, I ended up surprisingly getting my dress at Alfred Angelo's (with a savings of $300 - they were having a sale).Good luck!!!

Like the second one, the style of the bust looks sleek. I got with that one, but I agree don't overspend if you aren't satisfied. It is easily doable to have a great dress for under a grand, I got one! Again, I am going to name drop, feel free to flame me ladies....ALFRED ANGELO! lol

Have you tried Belltown Brides? I was refered by a friend to go there. It was my second time trying on dresses (first being Alfred Angelo). They have a really good selection for being a discount store. The lady that owns it (Michelle) is really awesome! She buys dresses straight off the runway & has them professionally cleanded and price them WAY down. The dress I REALLY liked was a Watters dress (Originally $3,000!!!) she had on sale for $950!!!!!! I definetely recommend going there! You can make an appoitment on their website I think. Good luck!
