Beach Formal Attire?

What does that mean? I'm going to a beach wedding and I have no clue what to wear. Any suggestions?

    We had a beach wedding and most of our guests wore fancy sundresses or simple cocktail dresses. The attire was not much different from an indoor summer wedding except people probably showed a little more skin than they would in a church. Lots of strapless and halter dresses with low cut backs.
