Disappointing visit to a Bridal Store - Sorry so long

I had an uncomfortable & disappointing experience at this  bridal store (www.riziks.com) on Connecticut Ave in Washington, DC last weekend. In search of the bridal gowns for the bridal party I called the store on that Friday to see if they had the gown in store.  I spoke to the lady and she informed me that they had two of the gowns I was interested in. I arrived at the shop early Saturday moring with my Matron of Honor and no one even attempted to acknowledge our presence but all the while continued to dote all over the 1 other bride-to-be that was there, lets call her Susie. After about 10mins of waiting I inquired with a sales assoc about 1 of the dresses that we had to find ourselves. The sooooo busy associate (lets call her Rudey) cause thats just was she was; pointed them in a direction of more dresses and trotted off.  No one asked about my wedding date, colors style of dresses I was interested in anything. After being sloshed into a dressing area where we tried dresses, I asks for the color swatches. So Rudey says, 'I need to know the material!' OK if you're the one who works there handling dresses all day, wouldnt you know the material? Anywho, she basically drops the color samples off and again leaves to finish her inventory or whatever. All the while she and um 'Becky'(Assoc #2) are all too happy to offer options, alteration info, compliments and any other normal service that a bridal shop usually gives; to Susie.What... everyone doesn't deserve the same type of service?? No but it gets better, she doesn't want to provide the costs of any of the dresses (she says its listed on the tags, find them & look) no info on ordering the other gowns that werent available in the store and then states, that for any purchases 'payment is required in full at the time of order.I then inquire about the trunk show they were having in the store for wedding dresses.  (I have already purchased my dress but they did not know that).  the lady just waves her hands over to the racks and states those are the dresses we have for the trunk show.  She didnt move from the desk she was behind. At this point we both realized that these folks were not interested in providing us any type of real service and decided to leave but not BEFORE the ignorant insinuation of >Becky, "are those earrings we had out, still there?"< umm what u tryin to say?? Hmmm. U be the judge?

Regional manager or store owner needs a call. I'm assuming u didn't order not even a peppermint from them. Keep looking. Not all stores are like that. Sorry u and your MOH had to deal with this foolishness.

OMG! girl I would have acted a complete fool and showed my A$$, just for the fun of it. I would have lied and told them I am a representative from "the knot" and let them kow that  I will be sure to write about how they CS sucked!!!But be sure to post on ur local board about how they suck!

Wow, that is so horrible. I would complain about lack of service to who ever the mangagement is because that is unacceptable. I swear some people can be so ignorant.

I will definitely give a call to the store district manager about that.. That's horrible..

This is TOTALLY unacceptable.  I agree with Cat, contact regional manager or store owner.  In addition, WRITE a letter expressing your disappointment in your experience at their establishment.  I would also include in the letter that as a result of their action or lack there of, I have decided to take my business elsewhere.  Sorry that happened to you.

Susie and the store associates were the same color and it was not my color.  And when I say they were doting on Susie they were saying stuff like.  You have great shoulders.....Your arms are amazing.....Look at your legs they look really good in this dress.I sent an email to the store have not gotten a reponse.  My MOH sent an email after me and stated in hers that if she doesnt get a reponse in 3 days she was going to submit a complaint to the BBB.  So we will see if I get a response.  If not thats my next step.

WOW...amazing. I would call the regional manger, like PP said. I would also write a very detailed letter and send it to the corportate office via certified mail...they really need to know how thier employees are acting....oh yea, I would also put in the letter that they missed out on selling a few thousand dollars worth of dresses!!

Very unfortunate.  I agree with pp, contact regional management about this.  I would also write a couple of reviews about this store.

Yeah I'm with your MOH I would have went to the BBB even if they did respond.  And still let the BBB know they responded but that still doesn't erase the fact that they treated you like that.  It's sad really.  I would also go on your local board and even on google maps (how you search) and yahoo to do a reader review.  I can't believe how backwards people are. All MONEY is the same color: GREEN. If you can understand that (especially in today's economy) you don't need your job cuz you are wasting your company's money.... girl BYE lol.

SAD! same as pp, you need to call someone about this... Sorry you had to go through that!

Thanks for the responses girls.  I will contact the store management as well as the BBB.

I would have preferred them to say "we don't want you blacks here," damn. Girl, I would go back with a camera and tape just how nasty they are and post it on YouTube. Nothing hurts business better than that.and if that's not what you want....I'm vaselined up, got my can of corn in my black sock and we can go Ninja on their azzes. Let a sis know, Baltimore here!  LOL

Girl please! I hope you reached out to the regional mgr or somebody. See that right there would have had me snapping. I sure hope that you complain and really put their business out there so no other bride of color has to go through what you had to go thru. That's rude.
