We finally Made it!!!

My Husband and I will celebrate our (1) year anniversary on the 18 of this month. Let me tell you that this year has been a trip, we have went thru our trials and several tribulations!  Being boyfriend/girlfriend and living together does not compare to being husband/wife and living together. Sh*t Changes.  The sad and exasperating part is that we finally realize that not everyone, including his Mom is praying for our marriage to work.  Which is truly sad.  Because we need all the prayers that we can get.As a last bit of advice, don't tell everyone your problems, including your family because it only excerbates the problem. It also gives all  those haters something to talk about.  If you are not planning on leaving then I suggest you find someone trusted that will give you honest and constructive feedback, someone that is unbiased and someone that wants your marriage to be successful.I also wanted to recommend some books that we have been actively reading that has helped us to understand our roles in our marriage as well as ourselves.Stormie Omartian: The Power of Prayer to change your marriage. The Power of a Praying WifeThe Power of a Praying HusbandThanks ladies for letting me share.

Hey Wana!  Girl I'm happy for ya'll.  I know exactly what you're talking about.  I've been close to hitting David with a few GUT punches in the past 2 months.  I will be picking up those books too.  Thanks girl!Sh#t does change.  When you have kids it's even more of a struggle to keep it together cause you're not just fighting to keep ya'll together, you're fighting to keep a family together.  I done pushed quite a few folks away from me and brought myself a journal and that has become a true friend.  I write, reread, and revisit my way of thinking.  It helps a lot.

I know u speak the truth b/c my lil six months been full of bad words and side eyes. Things are mellowing out. You guys will continue to make it. Its out there in the universe. Shut them haters (his mom) up. If they have nothing bad to talk about they can't say nothing. Congrats!

Kawana I am so happy for you and DH. It is a blessing that you and your husband are willing to work through your issues together in spite of the "haters" who want this marriage to fail. This is about you and him and not anyone else. Keep God first, keep actively communicating with each other and keep praying. Those are some excellent books and if you apply God's lessons then your marriage will be successful. Thanks for sharing this valuable lesson with us all. Take care!

Thanks guys for the positive notes, words of encouragement, suggestions and comments because we sure do need them. Marriage is a beautiful thing but it requires a lot of work! But like I said we made it! Kaila we are trying to put together a little dinner with our wedding party, we are getting our "ring" tattoes and we may go to Orlando for halloween Horrors (its a ritual for us). We are also trying to schedule our TTD session with Alain Martinez.
