If you DIY, why?

I ask because I'm in the process of DIYing more stuff for my wedding and with the cost of supplies and time, I could have probably paid someone to do it for me. But I LOVE to create and build and putting my own touch on things, so for me DIYing is more of a way to express my creativity than to save money (which I am doing too). Why do you DIY?

I like being crafty and also in order to have things meet mine and my FI's approval, it's best if I DIYed instead of having to pay an arm and a leg for certain services.

It gives me a chance to be crafty and creative. Also, since we've been so "ahead of the game" with vendors and planning, it helps kill some time.

I am just a crafty gal!! Plus I like saving money!!!! Everything is just SO expensive! FI and I have bills to pay we want to buy a home, and we have to pay off student loans. So, our plate is already full to say! I am making my own flower arrangements with a mix of  real and silk flowers. I will pay to have two alter CP's, but that is it!!! I just can't think of paying thousands of dollars for something that I can make myself for 60% less. My flowers will be simple roses and a few other filler flowers. I can order these flowers at Costco and make it myself for less. I got a quote on flowers yesterday and I was not feeling the price!! Almost $2,000 dollars for flowers!!! Roses only cost $15 bucks for 24 at Costco! I am not trying to go broke paying for this wedding.

I DIY because I am crafty, I like to save money, and most of all b/c I am picky and I feel the best way to get exactly what you want they way you want it is to do it yourself. I tend to do a lot myself besides DIY projects for the last reason stated.

I love to DIY because I like to save money on things that are "must haves!" For most things it really is less expensive and some cost just about the same if you paid someone else to do it. I also hate looking at school work all the time and need a break to concentrate on something else.

I love crafts and watching people's jaws drop when they hear that I made

Two reasons, for me, it's usually because I can't stand to be idle, so it gives me something to do.  Also because I have a vision, and it's much easier for me to create what I see in my head, rather than search for something similar.

I DIY because i am crazy and controlling. lol! FI lives in London and it gives me something to channel my energy in so i don't drive him or myself crazy!

I like being creative and I wanted some parts of the wedding to be really personal. Spending a weekend with my FI putting together invitations or creating STD's etc. has been so much fun and a great bonding experience.

Im DIYing because it'll give me something to do while FI is in basic training and since I won't be working when we get stationed, it'll give me something to do there too. I cannot stand just sitting around the house I need to be actively working on something. Also, I DIY because I know what I want.. sometimes it's kinda hard to verbalize what exactly it is that I want. I'm very picky anyway so you can imagine how I would be about my wedding. It has to be perfect. So instead of hiring someone to do it then going all super bridezilla on them because they didn't do it right, i'd rather do it myself and get it done right the first time.
