because I am a masochist...

I am seriously considering cutting the train off my wedding dress and dying the whole thing black (apparently I didn't learn the first time from dying my crinnnie black) ...you know for all of the black tie parties that I don't go to. I listed my dress on Craigslist this week and have gotten contacted by 3 scammers. Um... no, I will not send my dress overseas to you. Crazy or brilliant?

I think you'd get more use out of it if you cut it shorter and then dyed it. But let professionals dye it! You doing it yourself has disaster written all over it!That said, if you decide to attempt it, please take pictures and post them. =p

I was thinking of cutting it short, but then I loose the essence of the dress, since it's a mermaid dress. Then, I just feel like a dress murderer. I've been trying to find a place that would dye a wedding dress, but have come up empty handed. Hm... maybe I'll call the bridal shop where I got my dress...

I will let you know! I told DH I might do that and he almost died...he thinks I should just hang it in our closet until the end of eternity!

I wanted to do that to the dress from my first wedding but I never did. And then we'd always go to Christmas or company parties, and I'd have nothing to wear. It made so much sense to cut it short and dye it black. Hope you find a place and let us know about it!

Hi Ladies! Long time no see... UW, what about waiting until January - March and reposting? That's what I'm doing... since most wedding are in the summer, and girls will be looking for stuff around then. My wedding dress shop said those are the busiest months for them. I might even put mine up as early as December. You can also try the national sites like preownedweddingdresses.com or bravo brides. I know you said you wanted to donate it, but look at it this way... buying a used dress is the only way some girls will be able to afford such a nice one. Also bravo brides donates a percentage to the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign. I'd use PayPal if you go this way... less chance of a scam.
