Engagement Photos

Ladies,

I need some advice on this matter. Did you ladies take engagement pictures and if so how long after  you were engaged did you take them? What are they primarily for? For your wedding website and save the dates or what?

I took my e-pics super late.  Most people take them like a few months after they were engaged.  We took our pics a month before the wedding.  LOL.  The reason why we took them so late is because we originally took pics with a friend of mine before we hired our photographer and thought they would suffice.  But then we thought it would probably be nice idea to take pics with our photographer to get a feel for working with her prior to the wedding.  So I decided to take pics with our professional photog a few months after we booked her.  The problem is I wanted to take pics at a vineyard to go with our wine theme and at that time the grapevines had died off and wouldn't be in full bloom until the spring, so we waited.

We used our e-pics for our rehearsal dinner invitations. wedding website, guest sign in book, and we had one our fav pics made into a canvas to put up during the wedding reception.  Also, my sister in law put the pics on her digital pic frame during my bridal shower.  A lot of people use them for their save the dates, announcements in their local newspaper, to put up during their wedding reception.  Some enlarge one pic or put a few in picture frames and use them as centerpieces for the rehearsal dinner, reception, or engagement party.  So there are a lot of option.  HTH

We took our about a month after our engagement.  I have used them so far for the save the date, guest website, egagement party, and engagement announcement for the paper.  I will also you them at our wedding reception.

Okay that makes since. I will do something very similiar then. I just wasn't sure what the usage of the pics were for. Now I have plenty of ideas.

Our engagement pictures came with our wedding photography package. We took them five months before we got married.  It gave us an opportunity to preview her work and meet with her and see how we "clicked" before the wedding.  I am using the some of the photos as backgrounds for the tables at the wedding. Instead of doing table numbers, I'm doing table names so I just went on picnik.com and added to text to each picture and I'll be framing them. Here's an example.

We took two sets. One right after we were engaged and one right before the wedding. Its doesn't matter when you do them, as long as you like them & you use them.

We used ours for our wedding website, our STDs, our photo book guest book, and a few other things.

We are taking ours next Thursday. We have been engaged since Dec 25th!!! We have 10 months to go today!

Okay for some odd reason I thought that they had to be done in extreme advance. Now I can sit back and not stress over them. I got mad time to spare. **Insert evil laugh here**

We took ours early this month. We have been engaged since June 30. It is a great idea to feel out the photographer and see how hey will capture you on film. It came with our package. I plan to use them in our wedding program and have a couple blown up on display at the reception. I have a son and we included him in some of the pics. The session was extremely fun and confirmed that we picked a good photographer. We also have our first family portrait to display in our new home. I have not decided if I will do save the dates yet. If I do, I'll  use them for those as well. I do like the table number idea.
