African American Weddings

Starting over...

Let me start by saying FH and I are happy with what has changed and our reasons why. I know a wedding is supposed to be all about the bride and groom, and o' it will be all about us! There's a big BUT, alot of family and friends we hold dear to us will have a hard time going to Vegas to see us become husband and wife. Hearing thru word of mouth that money is tight etc.. So with that and not wanting anyone to struggle or miss out we have decided to have a wedding celebration here in Tucson. The place we wanted wasnt available on our date and in no way was I about to change the date so we have have a vow exchange along with a dinner/cake. No dj or dancing, we are both ok with that. There are alot of attractions at our location that I will share later in a wedding website that will be fun and will make for some great photos. A plus with wedding here is I will get to do more decor as I would have in a Vegas suite., and more family and friends will be able to attend. (Im thinking this may be more of a headache lol)  Vegas will not be left out, we will be honeymooning in Vegas 2 weeks after our wedding. WIth this being said I am looking forward to all the wedding planning I have ahead of me, and cant wait for the BIG day!!

Would you all have done the same? Or would you have the attitude who goes goes o well?

I would have (and did do) the same. I wanted to have a disney wedding (since FI lived in Orlando at the time) or some other destination wedding, but after oncerns from family members about flight and accomodations, we decided to have it here in Atlanta. At the end of the day, you want friends and family to share in your special day, even though it's about you two. Good luck with the new plans - happy planning!

I probably would have done the same thing.

But for you I definitely think you made the right decision, and your day will still be just as special!!

For our close friends and family....YES...I definitely would have done the same thing. FI & I were thinking about destination at first, but we both knew no one from his family (particularly his mom) would be able to come. Although its really about you & your FI, I'm sure everyone wants their close friends & loved ones there on their special day.

    You did the right thing!

Sounds like you did what was best for you both and your loved ones :)
We had a destination wedding in Vegas, and some people couldn't make it, but most of our closest family and friends were there to share in the day.
