Re: Another skin question

  • have you ever had a facial? I get one a month from Merle Norman...it's $60 bucks for the monthly plan and it has helped me tremendously. my esthetician is working now for my wedding in November and there are a variety of treatment options from mircodermabrasion to deep pore cleansing. I also am able to maintain my skin without expensive products now I only use African Black Soap (which is WONDERFUL for oily skin) and a light moisturizer with sunscreen and lots of water. not only is my skin tone more smooth and even it has also helped with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. :)
  • Everyday or special occasions? My everyday one is smashbox photo finish primer. They have a few different options so have them give you samples before you commit. For special occasions, here's a old trick from my pageant days...milk of magnesia. Just make sure you take the time to rub it in so you won't have the chalky effect. I also wear it at parties and bars and my makeup stays without the greasy look. I hope this works for you. .

  • I have really oily skin BH cosmetics primer works really well for me.
  • Revlon colorstay is great for oily skin. It's a liquid. I have been using a cream to powder from Mary Kay that is pretty good also. I have extremely oily skin also. The Merle Norman near me does free facials once a month.

Me too! Y'all have me googling microdermabrasion and facials. FI and I really want one before the wedding but I'm scared of how it may turn out. I've never had a facial and there are so many options! How many days before the wedding should you get it done?

If you haven't had one done before I'd suggest at least 1 month beforehand to make sure all is well. But if you get a good esthetician she/he will go over all aspects of your skin and concerns to make sure you don't get break outs/etc. I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin...(like everything breaks me out) but I haven't had a negative reaction to a facial yet.

But if you feel like waiting til closer to your wedding I recommend getting one about 5-7 days before. When I first get mine done it doesn't start to "settle in" until about the 4th day then by the 7th...the skin looks real good (takes a while for the new skin to turn over or something like that).

I think everyone should try it...like I mentioned it may be more costly in the beginning but it has completely eliminated my need to buy expensive face products now...so I'm happy!
