Need help asking bridesmaid and dresses

Hey ladies,
It has been such a long time since I have been on here and I haven't did anything new as far as my wedding goes, however I have realized that i am one year away and I am going to start marking off these checks. I need a little push.. :-).. Okay, so first thing first, I need to ask my bridesmaids and have them pick their dresses. i want to ask them in a unique way.. Any suggestions? Someone mentioned doing it in the form of a news letter and send it them. IDK. I need some ideas. Also how did ya'll find your dresses, search online, or go to bridal store and pick dresses, what was ya'll budget for the girls? what's too much? From there i will start looking for my dress, I will say, i am bit nervous,afraid that I will like everything. LOL.. Well what have ya'll been up to? Looking forward to any suggestions and guidance for planning.. :-)

If you're a DIY type... You can make a cute card with the "Will you be My Bridesmaid?"  (There are some vendors on etsy.com that does these)  

I searched for dresses online and tried to find something that would fit $150 and I DID just that!  

One thing is to remember that you can't make EVERYONE happy and that it's YOUR day!!

I saw on the website www.weddingbee.com that some brides make cute invites shaped liked dresses or cookies shaped like dresses and send it to them.  I only have 1 BM and I gave her 2 color choices and told her to pick whatever she wants (I'm flexible like that + I trust her taste).  I would say have an idea of what you want and go together and pick out dresses. I think it depends on if you want short or long or if you want them dressed alike or not.  Give them an outline of your vision and go from there.

Congrats on the engagement!
I got too giddy when Fiance proposed. I immediately snapped a pic of ring with phone and sent to my bff, then proceeded to get on facebook and tell her that i'm not getting married without her. The other 2 i just called. classy right. lol.  If i could do it over, i WOULD. They got these cute little puzzles at micheals you can write on asking if they'll be your bridesmaid/moh etc. I think i wouldve done something like that.

As for the dresses, I don't really care much as long as it's a certain color. They'll be paying for their own dress, so I set up appts at 2 different bridal salons and had them pick out and try on which ones they like, felt comfy in, and discuss their budget for a dress amongst themselves.

Hey stranger! LOL! jk ...as far as budget, think of their individual situations collectively and then budget based on that. I hate to say it, but I have one of my BM who is like my sister, who I'm kinda worried about being able to pay...wedding is next year..so unless her financial situation turns around,I'm not sure if she will be able to foot, dress, hair, shoes..etc..

I agree with this ^^....I've seen official invites done to BM's asking them to participate in the wedding. Another good way is to invite them all to a luncheon or brunch and then when they get there let them know its the Official Bridesmaid Brunch. For my BM I didn't do anything too special but that's because I also, am only have one girl. In terms of dresses I emailed her what I saw and what I liked, the colors of the wedding, and what colors I'd like for her to chose from and left it at that. (again with Yolie, I trust her taste implicitedlly). Best of luck!

good morning ladies.  cannot for the life of me remember what site I saved this pic from, but when I saw it I thought even I (not diy-ish at all) can handle that.   stick on glitter letters, some cardstock, a piece of yarn and plastic diamond ring.




also love the idea of a brunch and the wine bottles.   After you pick the look/dress you like, see if anybody's selling it on ebay.  Managed to get my bm's dresses new for $60 vs. $250 in the store.
