Posted by keysmit To be honest I was stressed because I didn't want my mom spending 1700 on a dress when she is the only person working at home right now since my dad was pushed into early retirement. So when I found the ball gown I really did like it but it was a lot I dress for lil ol me. I have a cousin who just got married and her dress looked like the ball gown and my sister worried that her mom was going to say something about our dresses being similar and she wanted my day to be my day. Well she offered to pay for my dress she just didn't want me in that ball gown and she called a store here in Baton Rouge and they had a sample sale going on. I went to the store and the dress I ended up with was a dress that I tried on and fell in love with in 2010 when Bae and I first began planning our wedding but had to postpone it. I didn't expect it to still be there at all but it was and for 90 percent less than the original price! The owner remembered me an told me that in two years I was the first person to try it on in 2010 and the ONLY person since then. She has a small boutique so she keeps inventory of dresses that have been tried on and ordered several times and that one was only tried on by me! She said my dress waited for me!

I feel you on that dress. I don't understand why these dresses cost so much.. I'm on the hunt to find the actual facility where they make these dresses so i can go pick it up.. So serious tho. LOL.. Anyways, that is sooo nice and it def was meant for you to have that dress. WOW the only person.. And it seem like you got a great deal on it as well.. i'm glad that everything worked out in your favor.. :-)

  • Lol @ your dress waiting for you. But it was meant to be. I love it :)
  • A lot of these dresses are made in China now, and I know quite a few people who have contacted the factories and ordered their dresses directly from them at a fraction of the price. About 80% of them are completely satisfied with their dresses and only a few were completely mortified with them. Most of them just needed minor alterations once they were received.  If you're looking for a specific dress, you should look into it.

As for bustles, that's on my list of things to do. I suppose I need to get started on alterations since that great plan to lose some weight fell by the wayside. Just not gonna happen. I've got too much going on (work and impending layoffs, kid, wedding planning and moving) and I'm sorry, Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming and I like to eat.

I saw a bustle that I liked somewhere online where the train was all tucked under so it just looked like a floor length gown. That's what I want. I don't need anything gathering at my butt.
  • That bustle would be great.

I had a bustle put on my dress that was $70..................and I forgot to even bustle it for the reception. Money wasted.lol
