New Years Resolutions/Goals/Trends and Themes

Good morning Luvys,

As we all know, we are a few short weeks away from celebrating the end of the old and the coming of the new.

My Theme for this year is "Something New." Outside of the obvious (marriage) what are you looking forward to ending and beginning. I'll start.

I decided that I really want to move forward with working with less fortunate children. My mother, myself and one of my foster sisters are trying to open a group home by the end of the Summer.

Prayerfully that will all work out. So what's your theme or resolution for the upcoming year?

My hats off to you for wanting to working with less fortunate children, that is so great. I have a friend that opened 2 group homes with her mother in NC, they have one for children with disabilities and one for adults. That's so great!!! I wish you the best of luck and you are doing a wonderful thing. Well, my resolution is kinda cliche, I want to lose 50-75 lbs before our wedding in 2012. I lost 50 pounds earlier in the year and once I moved to IL I gained 20 back and I feel horrible, I'm going to do it and keep it off this time!!!

Awww thank you momma, I appreciate it. It's a matter of getting it all together and moving forward. Sitting in an office working on the behalf of someone elses mission has become boring lol. On to bigger and better things.

And I am right with you on the losing weight. I will be doing something similiar with trying to lose at least 20lbs.

Girl, I know that's right! I have a few things I want to do after I'm done with school. I want to open my own counseling center and enrichment center. I want to have programs for minority teenage girls, military families, and parenting programs for teenage parents.

Well my new is my new job I say Jan 3rd. Im so excited. Unemployment was not my best friend. This year I'm being selfish. I gotta get myself together. I want to focus on my career (not just a job) and finish grad school. Also I plan on starving myself till the wedding. And the same saving skills i've been using due to unemployment and the wedding I plan to use after.

I love this because we get to forecast what we want to do!

I like the idea of "something new" I have had years pass me by and I not stay true to my resolution! But I want to change my lifestyle

    - definitely lose 50lbs {minimum} before my July 22,2011 wedding
    - crave God in my spirit more and more to get closer to him
    - work on the structure of my marriage
    - save save save save and SCRIMP to keep our goal of a 100% cash wedding alive

Kudos to all of you ladies for dreaming BIG...

I also like your theme versus resolution and will piggyback off of your "Something New"...

    1) I will finally man up and apply to pharmacy school for the 2012 term.
    2) I will write my thesis so that I can officially graduate and open myself up to better career options.
    3) I will deal with some of my unresolved issues regarding family planning and decide for sure if I'm up to trying for children anytime soon.
    4) I will eliminate my debt with the exceptions of my car and student loans.

Ah yes, the dreaded New Year's Resolutions...I prefer the "Starting New" theme as well, doesn't sound so menacing :P

My Goals Would Have to be
    A) Lose 65lbs by our June 2011 Wedding Date
    B) Have a "ring" on it by Jan 1
    C) Quit Smoking
    D) Finish my first book (I'm less than 100 pages away from the ending) and get it published
    E) Finish my 2nd book (have it started but can't seem to get the ideas flowing to get it moving again)
    F) Get into our own place
    G) Go Back to school but ONLY for my writing and drawing/painting...that's where my heart truly lies and I have no intentions of wasting my time doing things that I don't love
H)I would, REALLY like to care for another elderly citizen as I did for my grandfather and my past employer, I find I enjoy working with the elderly (even though they can be set in their ways). I think after taking care of an African Military man, and a older white gentleman, I would love to care for an older black woman- I love to see pictures, receive their knowledge and hear their stories.
    I) Learn how to belly dance
    J) Open my own Etsy shop selling my paintings/drawings and my natural hair inspired pillows

**Looks up at list** Damn that's alot, lol

Oops, forgot one- Grow Calypso (my fro) to shoulder length
