Sun Palace Resort??

I thought I read once that someone stayed at Sun Palace in Cancun Mexico for their honeymoon.....I am just curious if it is worth $300 more (for 7 nights) to upgrade to concierge level.  Right now we are booked for a Junior Suite but really would like the nice loungers on the beach and the DVD player :)

I stayed at another Palace resort (Cancun Palace) a few years ago. It was FANTASTIC. I've traveled a lot of different places and this hotel had just about the best service I've ever had. (I believe they've since remodeled/rebuilt most of these hotels due to a really bad hurricane a few years back so I don't know if management changed or anything.) As far as if an upgrade is worth it, I don't think $300 is that much more, but doesn't really seem worth it for loungers on the beach, but that's just my preference. DVD is neither here nor there to me...how many movies are you really going to watch on your HM?

Yeah, I'm guessing we won't watch many DVDs, but I just want to have the option :)  There are lots of other "perks" about it, but none that seem super great....but $300 didn't seem like THAT much more.

We stayed there two years ago and it was AWESOME! I can't wait to go back! When we went they had just opened up the resort at Isla De Mujares (not sure on the spelling). It was so beautiful there so take the free day trip over and enjoy. When we went we skipped the tour around the island and hung out at the resort there instead. It was totally empty since they had just opened and only had one room occupied. We had great service and it was so beautiful I just cannot say it enough! We went back a second day with our friends paid a little extra and swam with the dolphins there and I would highly recommend that too! Not sure if the extra $300 is worth it for what you are getting, we pretty much just hung out in the hot tub in our room if we were in there. Of course we went with three other couples so we had a lot of company but, I imagine on your honeymoon you can find some other things to do... LOL. See if they will include some spa treatments instead. My trip included a massage and pedi for each of us and it was really nice. Make sure to take trips to the other resorts and enjoy the food too. There was so much to do and the only thing I think I would skip next time is the snorkeling. The reef was pretty much gone from the hurricane that came in there and you cannot wear sunscreen when you go out there so many people fried themselves on the boat ride there. ENJOY! I am super jealous!
