Chiavari chairs???

My venue charges 5 per chair for gold chiavari and 7 for silver. we originally chose the gold...our colors are white, red, and grey (use 2B black). The BM are wearing silver shoes my dress is white and silver. GM tux are grey, the centerpieces are going to be red and silver with a few crystals. My sis said we should change the chairs to silver but that would mean 700 for Chairs! Do you think it would look bad with the gold chairs?

Re: Chiavari chairs???

  • Silver would look better and would fit with your color scheme better. Are you allowed to rent from an outside vendor? Have you priced them elsewhere?
    Anniversary
  • Yes we are but the cheapest I found is still $700. 500 for the chairs and 200 for delivery
  • Is there another color chiavari chair that is as cheap as the gold?
    Anniversary
  • I wish...well white but those really look like those chairs I use to have as a kid lol maybe b/c those didn't come with the cushions
  • Whew! @peachy where are you getting married? This shows me everyday I LOVE the fact I chose my venue because they include Chiavari chairs....but they are Mahoghany though....no biggie for me.

  • Thanks but they are $6 per chair not including delivery. Is there anything I can do to make the gold work? We haven't bought any of the items for the centerpieces yet I just bookmarked where to buy them and the ladies havn't bought there shoes, my shoes are red. I really still think silver is the best choice too b/c I don't really like gold...Fi does tho. If I could go back in time I would soooo just have it at the church and have a big party at the park lol
  • MrsSmith2Be02 Spring Freaking Hall lol...I thought we were getting a good deal until thing started adding up. Where are you getting married?

The Defoor Centre....and they include any color linen as long as its not a specialty linen. I was so happy because I really wanted Navy table linen and didn't have to be stuck with a standard Black or White.

However, Spring Hall has some GORGEOUS ambiance to it too! Just take the good with the bad. My bad is parking......not that much, but it'll get worked out. I wished I could have gone somewhere farther out, but the majority of my guests are pretty old so didn't want them to have to travel from the church and the clear across the city.

rowenac82 they have the plan banquet chairs for $2  and $4 for covers. The linens are white with red napkins. Any other color on the table would be another charge

MrsSmith2Be02 yes SH is really beautiful especially when you add in all the extra cost lol. When I went I was like wow this is nice "I WANT IT" lol...then he gave me the price sheet for each thing from lights to chairs. I was going to do Defoor cause it was the first place Fi and I went to look at and he actually liked it, but I could never get a response from them. I called, emailed, left messages and after two weeks I just gave up.

yes its ideal to have eveything match, which means the silver chairs, but if its not in the budget..then guess what gold chairs it is....you could do chair covers, but thats an additional cost....so that might not work either...might want to splurge on the chairs which will be seen, and skimp or cut something else that isnt as important

  • Can your budget take the $700 hit? If not what do the plain banquet chairs look like?
    imageAnniversary
  • I just found a company thats around the coner from the venue that will let me have silver for $650 including rental...maybe here is the link to what the regular chairs look like

This is what I wanted it to look like but with red

& this is what the gold would look like but white & red on the table
  •  I don't think you need to change the chairs. The real determination is the linen color.

You can do the gold chairs with a white linen and the pop of red centerpiece....the silver won't show too much. I would spend the money on a  nice textured shimmer/organza type overlay. And add the red sash to the chair.

I would also do the napkins, and chair cushion in white to soften the gold of the chairs. What other decor ideas are you thinking uplighting, chargers etc? Taht will all tie in to the cohesiveness of the look. I personally wouldn't spend the extra money on the silver chairs.

peach if it helps I haven't been to one wedding (and i just went to one 2 weeks ago) where I remembered the color of the chairs.  and i'm saying this as somebody who also had to switch from silver to gold, against the backdrop of everything else there is to look at, no one notices the chairs, not even the bride.  it hasn't been in one recap i've read.   let us know what you decide.

    Wink

eta:  peach,  these folk are in area code 404 and have chavaris listed on their webpage for $5.95 per, including cushion and silver.

    http://www.ballroomchairrentals.com/index2.php

eta again:  never mind, i just saw that this is the same place as the link ro gave you.  $600 including cushion is pretty good tho.
  • sultryzulu you are absolutely right I had the same issues with draping the ceiling at my first venue choice. She looked at me and said its gonna cost you about 1000 to do that, who do you think will care about the ceiling LOL...I like when people are honest b/c she could have easily said sure we can do that for you.

  • J you really think you'd notice the chairs though?  I mean because (this is how I talked myself out of it) by the time the bride sees the room, there are bodies in those seats.   it's even less complex than that lol, $525 versus $795, imma build my bridge and get my ass right over it.
  • Honestly, in the grand scheme of things, the color of the chair is so not important. I agree with Sultry...it's not something the guests make a big deal about. Make you a list of priorities of what is important to you and what is not in the decor. I'm sure when it comes to that list and all the many other decor choices you have to make and Pay For, the color of your chair may very well be low on the list as compared some other things. Take your time and really think it through and put some things in perspective. Whatever you decide, keep us posted! Laughing

I'm just jumping in to say:

    1.  Your venue is GORGEOUS!

    and

    2.  Believe me, I understand about obsessing over chairs.  I realllllly wanted silver chiavari chairs because I love the overall look and because I don't like the standard cotton chair covers.  I was having a hard time justifying the extra $1000 for them, however, so my venue coordinator came up with an alternative spandex chair cover that satisfied me (somewhat) and the budget.  Guess what!  The day of the wedding, I didn't even NOTICE the chairs, mainly because people were sitting in them by the time I saw the room, but also because everything else looked so fabulous.  Seriously.  What I did notice was the centerpieces and table settings.  I still love the way the chiavari chairs look and would certainly have chosen them if I had the money, but on the grand scheme of things to stress over, I regret that chair choices (and table runners - that was my other stressor) gave me any fever.  lol   So I said all that to say, my vote is silver IF you can stomach the cost.  Otherwise, MsAmeera25's advice is on point (she is a wise detail guru!).  Whatever you decide will be beautiful!

OH NO! :( Yea, I happened to go to an Open House before we chose the venue with my cousin and she loved it so much and the cost was so awesome....Response time can be a bit lagging, but their service once you talk to them is great. I'm using DIYuplighting.com (10 lights for $190). Also, if the centerpieces are there, they will set up whatever u need....already added factor in the cost!
